Photographer's Note

Here we have the central park of Ciego de Avila with the monument to José Martí, a Cuban hero who fought for the independence of Cuba in the late 1800s.
Cuba was then a Spanish colony.

The building in the background contains housing units.

At left, two Royal Palms, one of the national symbols of Cuba - because of its upright posture, facing any bad weather, it symbolizes the strength of character of the Cuban people.
