Walking around the town of Trinidad is a dream for a photographer, the colours are so bright and varied. This shows a good example of one of the streets near the centre of town, where there has been a lot of restoration work and the buildings are freshly painted.
The tower is the church bell tower for the Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco. Franciscan monks originally built this in 1813, but the building has had many uses since then, including a garrison for the Spanish army, a school, and now a museum.

Good perspective with the street leading our eye to the church. The presence of the people give a good idea of the scale and I like the alignment of coloured houses on the left. This reminds me of Valparaiso where I went last year.
Have a nice day.

Great view with an amazing perspective and depth. I love the colourfull walls leading to the view of the tower. Great details, beautiful lighting, excellent colours! Great composition and fantastic quality!

Aside from the colours which are truly amazing (as you've mentioned), the composition here is very strong. The roofs on either side form a 'v' with the apex pointing towards the tower. Also, the road leading away from us forms a nice leading line that takes our eyes towards the middle of the frame.
Take care and I'm looking forward to more shots from Cuba!

Greato colors and balance between light and shades! The dramatic sky is a perfect background for this nice composition.

A beautiful image that has so many vibrant colours and contrasts. You have a great pov and perspective and have used your position well to get this view of this superb architecture. Nice textures and well managed lights. Overall superb composition. Good one indeed

Hi Alvin, another beautiful image of architecture!
really intereting and very well taken, with few persons on the road to add life to the place!
Amazing colours and contrast!
i think i'd like a lot to visit Cuba, so colorfull!!

Wonderful colour & sharpness, with good linear perspective. The several pedestrians add a human element & scale. Good graphism of the bg tower against the blue sky. Tfs!

I first like here the lovely and punchy colors, they make the picture very lively. They are also well kept under control considering the hard light conditions of the early afternoon (if your exif is right). The darker greens of the window on the light green wall are particularly powerful. Nice street perspecitve and a superb environment.
Have a nice day,

Very nice combination of beautiful and bright colours. Nice perspective as well. I als like the human touch.

Beautiful shot, Alvin. The V-shaped tunnel provided by the converging building façades gives a good lead-in to the photo, the pastel colors are vivid and striking, and I also like to see the presence of some humans bringing life to the scene. Nice catch.

This one makes me feel like
I'm walking the street myself
and holding my camera...
Inetersting architecture with
these cage-like shutters... I
suppose these are shops, not

As you say the colours are vivid and you have captured them well, the POV shows off the street houses and make them a source of contrast for the church, nicely done :)

Hi Alvin. I see what you mean about this place being a photographer’s paradise! You know I never was happy with a polarizer on my D70 because I thought it looked cold but I'm happy to see a D200 doesn't do that. I love the wonderful play of light and shadows. Very nicely done Alvin.

Nice work here, good use of the very strong colors and the leading lines to emphasize the neutral and powerful tower. i can't help but wish for a figure in the light against the right wall rather than in the shade, where it is so easily lost, though.

Although there aren't many people around, this place seems to have come alive with all the colours. Its good that they are retaining the original architectures instead of the concrete jungles.

couleurs en vedette ici et belles diagonales qui ajoutent de la perspective.
Une bonnes gestion des lumières malgré ces contrastes entre lumières hautes et basses.

Amazingly rich hues and tones really deliver high impact here. I like the shadow effects and the contrasts, as well as the shadow effects. The bell tower nicely balances the frame, while the man walkingin the shadows enhances and warms the shot further. A fascinating spot, both photographically and historically. Well captured.

Linda perspectiva de Cuba Alvin.....deve ser um lugar fantastico a julgar pela bela e bem composta imagem.

Hi Alvin - yet another gem of coloonial architecture, the tower may be a little centred, but I don't blame you for choosing this perspective, the alleyway has its own symmetry, and I wouldn't want to exclude any of the colours on the left side.
ArtLook (2348) 2007-03-01 11:47
You are right, the colors are really bright. In Russia we also use different colors, but I can say for sure - not as vivid as like here. Very picturesque image, espesially in contrast with blue sky. Thank you for sharing!
With BEST Regards,

A good POV of these colorful house facades and of the bell tower of the church, the photo has a good composition, DOF and nice colors. Thanks for sharing.
