Oh remember the 80's where it was fashionable to actually wear Mid-drift t-shirts.
I can remember wearing them myself! Football style shirts cutoff so the bellybutton was showing - hard to believe that was so In-Style.
The Jocks in the school would even wear them!
And while this man in the red/black shirt certainly isn't close to being a Jock, his shirt reminded me of those 80's.
Captured this scene while walking the streets in Trinidad. The look on the man's face with the yellow shirt is kind of interesting too.
Hope you like it

Voilà une scène de la vie quotidienne qui mérite les félicitations par le sujet, par l'intérêt de sa présentation, et par son cadrage fort bien pensé.

an enigmatic study this. I love it! It looks almost posed but obviously not and has a strange modern Dutch master arty feel about it, or am I just getting carried away. Perfectly balanced being both intriguing and fascinating, it looks like it should be hanging in a modern art gallery. Entrancing imagery Craig and so original.

Your recent uploads bring back memories of my trip to Cuba 5 years ago!
You created another street classic here with this well-captured everyday scene. For me bicycles and ubiquitous shoeshine stands are among the Cuban icons.
Have a nice day

very nice the snapshot from the daily life of the streets in Trinidad, with the man sitting on the chair to be a bit curious. Here in Greece some years ago someone could see the same snapshot with the customer to put his foot on the box as waiting their shoes to be polished. The T-shirt style is really very funny.

This particular fashion moment must have passed me by, I've never worn one of those. Looks like an acquired taste, haha. A nice candid everyday moment, and I agree the guys expression is interesting, it looks like a cross between boredom and disgust.

Une belle scène typique de la vie quotidienne de La Havane.Toute la vie se passe sur le trottoir dans cette ville aux murs marqués par l'humidité et l'air salin.

Just the kind of picture I like, as you should know by now. There's not much happening, just some very quiet daily activities. I like the colors of the wall and how the bike is placed in relation to the two men. You balanced this composition very well.

I posted something similar on TE a while back but with a motobike not a bicycle. I was fascinated by these street activities as I know you were. Lovely colours and typically Trinidad, Cuba.
Very well done.
Kind Regards, Ann

I witnessed similar scene a while ago in Turkey and could not believe this profession still existed. From what I can see in your picture it is quite common in Cuba.
You captured it very well and composed it nicely. The bike in the foreground makes it even more captivating and the scruffy wall provides interesting background.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your evening

I have never heard of Mid-drift T shirts, nor Jocks. I'm sure I have worked out the meaning of the first but am not 100% sure of the meaning of Jock!!
It is a fine daily life scene, with lots of details about the people, the way of life and the environment. For me, it is the positioning of the bike that takes it forward, into an artistic creation. It is not necessary to the activity but it is the stationery object, with its contrasting shapes and its ability to give definition to the otherwise empty space, that makes it so important.
My warm regards,

Belle capture de cette scène de rue à Trinidad. Bonne composition et belle association de couleurs, tee-shirts compris!

Haha.... not the best abs for a cut-off T Craig! A quiet scene and well spotted DL scene. I notice that the shoes of the shoe shiner are a good advert for his skill.

Hi Craig, I do not remember Mid-drift t-shirts, perhaps they were no worn in Poland. Sexy with bellybutton on show?? Interesting scene and picturesque old wall in nice warm colours.
Have a nice day

Une autre belle scène de rue bien cadrer avec le vélo tout simple sans vitesse, le mur sans décor, mais colorée, pour la blouse trop courte aucun souvenir :-)

A great street scene. We lived in Hong Kong for a number of years and the local men tend to still do this with their shirts whenever the weather is warm...which is nearly always :) is the other man having his boots cleaned and polished?
Nice framing and use of the white space to balance the activity and detail
Thanks for sharing

This now-rare scenery composed by the rules book with a perfect visual balance, involving a shoe shine scenery set in the limelight and the bicycle left downstage, becomes a scarcity as on-street phone booths are nowadays!
Many thanks for this free voyage to Cuba!

Nice taken the moment on this street scene.
The guy superbly improvised a working-place, posted a high cahir and a lower one, to ease his bent while preforming his skill.
*** Beit-Jala is not really Israel, and this is not how an Israeli city looks alike. it's the christiane quarter in Bethlehem.
