Photographer's Note

Back to Trinidad, a UNESCO world heritage site in Cuba. The pace of life is slow with various animal- and human-powered transport on the cobbled streets in the motorized traffic-free zone that is the heart of the old town. Cuba has had a turbulent modern history and an American embargo (blockade) still exists making it hard for US citizens to travel to Cuba, and restricting trade. I heard rumours that this might be lifted soon.
I thought that this picture illustrated life in Trindad. Not many tourists at that time of year to get in the way!

Hi Ann

A good daily life scene of the traditional horse & cart from Cuba. I like the back & sidelighting from the top right. Good shadow detail & well composed. Excellent textural details in the cobblestones & the 2 women at left animate the scene. Tfs!

Hi Ann,

It looks as though May was the perfect time of year to visit this wonderful place if only because it seems devoid of tourists.

Life in the slow lane indeed - just my perfect pace of life! Perfect composition, the diagonal of the road and pavement passing by the colourful houses. Two ladies talking probably about nothing in particular and the cart with its forlorn looking horse and driver making no effort to hurry along the cobblestones.

Perfect exposure, lovely colours and excellent detail and sharpness. A perfect snapshot of this place and an interesting note too.

This looks a bit like an outdoor museum, but obviously it's a real town with real people living real lives. You have captured the slow and seemingly restful atmosphere very well. The colours are very nice and the light is well handled. I have a feeling that life here is not quite as easy as it may seem.

The bright colors somehow drags the eyes in and the pace of life is reflected vividly here. The gossiping ladies are real bonus complimenting the main interest. A charming street scene full of character and unique only to Cuba. Excellent moment registered when the light quality is at its premium. Congrats.

Perfect postcard, smelling the breeze from middle America. Horiozontal cropped framework via panfocus appraoch is so nice and comfortable. Marvelous tasetful color with good daylight indeed!

Hello Ann,

A very attractive scene, a shot I would like to have in my own gallery.

The cobbled street, the old walls and the carriage bring a timeless impression. The image also conveys a peaceful mood, where the word stress probably doesn't exist.

The light is soft and so are the contrasts. I like the angle of view, the integral shadow of the carriage (uncut) and the warm colours.

Very nice daily shot! I didn't know Trinidad was a part of Cuba, always thought it a part of Trinidad & Tobago (blame it on cricket :-))
Life is slow & it shows from the pace of the horse. The diagonal disposition enhances the depth. Nice colours in good light!
