Photographer’s Note
Taken just after sunrise. The valley gradually became bathed in light revealing the lush green vegetation - an ideal subject to bring out the best in Velvia. A tripod was essential for this shot because of the film speed and the lens working at the 300mm end of the zoom.

This looks like a magical place, Colin. I love the rich colors and unusual mist among the green.

Superbe image ou l'on part du vert intense jusqu'aux brumes du fond tout cela bien mis en valeur par l'utilisation du zoom.
Congratulations

I like the way the shadows fall in this picture. I also like how much vegetation you left in the front of this picture, it really shows how beautiful this area is. Also the fog in the background is nice to offset all the green colors. Very nice shot!

Truly beautiful colors. Very nicely captured using Velvia. There is such a lushness here. And I can almost hear birds calling out here and there. Other animal sounds breaking in now and then and just overall quiet surrounding that. The way this landscape descends into that misty layer really offers a nice perspective. Certainly well captured and a must capture, indeed.

Beautiful shot, and that first outcropping, like a cone, surrounded by the morning haze is truly the feature that gives your pix all its strength, as our eyes fly to it as if they were birds.

A very good shot; in particular, the lingering morning mist adds contrast and brings out the mood you want to convey in the picture.
But as a viewer, and not having been to this part of our planet, I yawn to see what lies further ahead. The multiple round dome like hills at the top of the picture seems more interesting than the darkened area at the lower 1/5 of the picture. I wonder if the picture would be even better if you tilted the camera up a little to capture more of the distant landscape and perhaps the skyline. What do you think?

This shot is very similar to some of the ones I took at Vinales. I wonder if you were at the same hotel as I was when you took this shot (Los Jazmines). Lovely colours and I like the effect created by the mist. Well done!

Wow, what a beautiful scenery, the saturated colours and the light are superb. The shadows created by the low sun light are great. And the distant landscape gradually emerging through the fog...it's stunning. Well done Colin!

Just checked out some of your other Cuba shots. This caught my eye, perfect time of day for this one with the low light and the mist, good choice of portrait format giving depth tot he whole thing.

Hi Colin. Cuba is a country that I have not been to, and everytime I see photographs like this, it gets hgher towards the top of my 'must visit' list. Beautiful light and saturation (naturally with Velvia) and a great composition. The layer of mist in the background adds a lovely mood to this. Cheers . . . David
