Photographer's Note

The Viņales valley is encircled by mountains and its landscape is interspersed with dramatic rocky outcrops. Traditional techniques are still in use for agricultural production, particularly of tobacco.
Each farmer is given a quota with 90% of the crops being bought by the government. The final 10% remains with the farmer for personal use, local sales/exchanges or making and selling cigars to the tourists who visit.
