From Varadero, Cuba's tourism companies offer a 4 hour tour to the nearby sugarcane fields (as seen in my last post) and the city of Cardenas.
After visiting a sugar processing factory, you climb aboard an 19th century steam train to make your way into town, arriving at this old station.
Cardenas is home to many of the staff that work in resort and tourism sectors of Varadero. It gives a good semblance of day to day life in Cuba, although my sense is you need a lot more time than the tour provides to really get to know the place.

interesting post! It is almost like travel back in time, especially with the old steam train in mind:)This old station seems to have lost the roof by the way! Nice symmetry in this shot with a good depth, good light and colors also, tfs!
Have a nice day/

What a strange place this seems to be. I would have found it hard to identify this as a train station, but I immediatley enjoyed the colors, especially the contrast between the red shirt of the guy running along the platform and the faded blue walls. The composition has a fine symmetry with good depth.

here is an original and unexpected shot from Cuba, not in the trend of usual cliches
I like the faded blue walls, the metallic structures and the the symmetry broken by the eye catching red shirt running boy
Bravo, I like that
have a nice WE in Ottawa

I like the graphic nature of this shot and the effective composition. The converging lines of the iron pylons and their shadows make good leads to the scene. The running boy is well positionned in the frame and adds a dynamic touch. However, I felt a black and white conversion would give it a larger impact and timeless quality. See my WS.
