Photographer's Note

One of the things that impressed me the most was the almost disappearance of murals glorifying the revolution of Fidel Castro, who instead were everywhere 20 years ago as I saw in my previous trip.At their place appeared the modern Afro-american style murals , the myth of the Revolucion is decaying ....

C'ERA UNA VOLTA LA REVOLUCION

Una delle cose che mi hanno maggiormente colpito,è stata la quasi totale scomparsa dei murales inneggianti alla rivoluzione di Fidel Castro,che invece si trovavano ovunque 20 anni fa come vidi nel mio precedente viaggio.Al loro posto sono comparsi dei moderni murales in stile afro americano,anche il mito della Revolucion sta decadendo....

Je ne sais pas pourquoi , je trouve beaucoup de charme à ces murs décrépis . Ca doit être moins drôle d'y habiter .
EXcellent composition d'image , avec cette magnifique peinture urbaine en partie basse .

Hey Luciano,
je ne suis pas fan de graffitis mais il faut reconnaître que cet art est des fois très attractif, très agréable au regard. Dommage qu'ils soient commis sur des endroits publics.
L'arrière plan montre un paysage urbain délabré et presque en ruines.

Despite over 50 years of 'freedom' from the US style of governance, I see no evidence of prosperity here. Only urban decay. But it's great that the hard line ideology is being supplanted. Good post with excellent sharpness & color. Tfs!

Excelent colors in compo. well in contrast, double meaning to the term - as the surrounding area looks very poor, to my view.

A striking composition. It is understandable that you need some colours and nice pictures if you live in a run-down area like this. The contrasts are almost shocking. I like the mild desaturated colours.

Wonderful image, almost like two separate ones. I would have removed that cable if I were you though it sort of cuts it where you do not expect it. Great colour and sharpness as for the spirit of the revolution, well every thing has to change.

On dirait 2 images superposées, tellement le contraste est grand entre l'avant plan qui explose de couleurs vives dans ces graffiti et l'arrière plan de maisons, uniforme et plus terne

I am not a huge fan of grafitti, although I do understand why some sections of society feel a need to express themselves in this way. That is not to belittle your shot, in any way, for it is both sharp and amazingly detailed.
You have presented an aspect of the world, now revealing changes from your previous visit, and it is for others to debate.

Mi piace il contrasto tra queste realizzazioni e i vecchi palazzi in una scena in cui hai tirato fuori il massimo dell'azzurro dal bianco del cielo.

From a tourist perspective, it is a little regrettable that the typical murals of the revolution have disappeared. Worse, I think they are replaced by graffiti that we can find throughout the whole world and that isn't proper to the place at all.
In a way I can understand that some people want to brighten up their living environment with these colourful drawings and signatures ... but for some reason I've never been a fan of graffiti.
The picture is great showing the strong contrast between the colourful wall and the dreary back streets of Habana.

Lo stato di pensionato, la morte di mio nipote, mi hanno provato, ma nelle foto degli amici trovo un momento di pace ...una confidenza tanto bella da crederla irreale.

Questo muro coperto di graffiti, anima il quartiere e alcune case po 'triste e fatiscente. L'umorismo creativo e comunicativo ha sostituito l'ideologia sterile. Mi piace la morbidezza di grafiche e colori. Eccellente qualità. Bravo.

sono tornata su questa foto varie volte prima di trovare le parole per descriverla...
La contraddizione della vitalità dei colori graffitari sulla depressione del bianco sporco delle case in cui forse vivono i stessi graffitari...
Non sono mai stata a Cuba ma dalle storie raccontate da amici ho sempre avuto questa impressione di opposta dualità. Ecco la tua foto mi conferma ciò.

Another really good picture from your Cuba trip. The title is spot on, as it contrasts highly with the socialist paintings on the walls that I remember from way back.

I also really like how the wall divided the frame in two. The buildings in the bg make sorry architecture, but form an integral part of the beauty of the shot.

The textures and brown/grey tones of the old, crumbling buildings are a wonderful backdrop for the brightly coloured graffiti. There are lots of interesting details throughout - an excellent urban scene from Cuba of excellent quality.

What a splendid way to show the graffiti with the old buildings in the background. The colors explode in the graffiti vs the dull colors of the buildings. Sharpness and lighting are superb.

but still, very enjoyable to view.
the colors come alive along the bottom and the crumbling architecture is ugly but in a beautiful way.
