As the sun is setting in Havana, the locals gather at the Malecon to socialize and simply just hang out with friends.
Almost everyone here in this scene is a local, for some reason the tourists don't hang out here in the evening - they're really missing out because its warm, romantic, peaceful, has great city views with the ocean...do what the locals do! They come here for a reason.
The lighting in the sky is rather harsh, but I still wanted to capture the moment. Hope you like it.

Indeed, an image full of atmosphere, a reminder of the evening passada that figures much in Spanish and Italian cultural life. Well composed with the edge of the quayside leading obliquely toward the tower block. Some over-exposure in the sky, but certainly not a show stopper and, indeed, all part of the mood. Thanks for sharing.

very well captured scene of the peaceful evening time. The warm light in here makes very nice atmosphere and adds to the image. The people gathered on the shore seem to be relaxed and enjoy themselves at the end of the day. Good POv for this picture and interesting composition which give us a glimpse of the architecture and daily life too.
Thanks for sharing

C'est l'endroit idéal pour photographier un coucher de soleil à La Havane. On dirait que la jeunesse se réunit sur les rives pour jaser ou encore flirter. C'est encore plus beau quand les vagues sont fortes.

A really enjoyable atmosphere there, one of the most beautiful places to spend the evening. Well taken, have a nice day.

Yes, I do like it. It look very natural, which is not often the case with sunset photos….

There seems to a grat sense of fun here, the the pele sitting around enjoying this beautiful view in each others company. I would wonder why tourist don't come here, perhaps they don't know of it. Thats why trekearth is the best tourist guide! I love the colors of the sky, a fantastic glow. A great composition in where you placed the sea and towers too.

Looking briefly at a thumbnail of an old red car I thought it was yours, but instead I found this picture next to it :-). This doesn't look like the most beautiful part of Havana but the atmosphere created by the setting sun is great and the people are very nicely lined up for the sake of your photo. Some of them are perfectly placed with the purple sea as a backdrop.

questa mi ricorda tanto quella dei pescatori.
La luce mi sembra la stessa, i colori sono abbastanza simili, Cuba sempre più bella e caratteristica e soprattutto spontanea e naturale.
Ciao, buona giornata e buon inizio di settimana

there is a really nice feel about this lovely shot, who could resist that gorgeous pink evening sky, actually you have handled the difficult light pretty well with plenty of colour and detail in the relaxing locals.
The glowing light on the tall building is very attractive.
All the best,

Ahhh, this is where you can virtually throw technical details out the window. Catching a scene like this, one chuck full of locals is so much more interesting than almost anywhere else. So the sky is a little blown out, no big deal...it's the setting itself and the people that make the shot.
A total hang-out spot for the real side of Havana, and that visual sensation shines through. (Yeah, pun intended. :)) I wonder what that person on the wall is leaning over to see...fish, garbage, a body...or maybe just getting ready to dive in?? Who knows?
A cool, relaxed scene, and one which exudes part of the easy going lifestyle. I don't know about anyone else, but this seems like a nice place to round out the day...maybe not the most aesthetically pleasing per se, but real and down to earth.
I imagine you're getting pretty anxious now for another journey, yeah? :) Just a few more days.....
Have a good one. Take it easy mate.
Cheers from the dusty desert,

People seem to enjoy sunset over there!
Very nice moment! Very attractive and beautiful picture!
Although I miss a bit more of sharpness, I really like the colors, management of light, horizontal format, slim black borders, chosen pov and composition!
TFS - congrats,

Bon rendu de l'atmosphère en cette fin de journée en ce lieu où les locaux semblent se rassembler à la fin de la journée.

Hi Craig, You captured very fine moment at sunset in Havana. Nice to see the locals rather than tourists. Probably they gather in more known places.

An awesome harbour scene at sunset with excellent foreground interest, I love the low shooting point as if the path is pointing all the way to the main show, and what incredible golden tone of the sky and water. The exposure looks so pleasant delightfully exposed, but i feel what really lifts and complement this shot is the presence of people - a real plus point there! adding the extra oomph. Super shot, TFS

A peaceful view and a very pleasant picture with beautiful light. An interesting cityscape and a good daily life picture. How was the music here?

It is the people that help to set the mood. With so many gathered, in a relaxed fashion, you pick up the impression that there is certainly something going to happen!
To get the composition, with the gilded skyscraper strongly positioned and the line of the wall moving inwards, it was virtually impossible to crop the upper part of the sky. Still, the mood is there and the slight oe is no problem.
I'm glad you posted it, it shows another friendly, extrovert aspect of the Cuban people.
Have a great day,

You have captured the laid-back and breezy atmosphere of the Malecon very well. Good exposure where the details of the city are well seen despite shooting into the setting sun.
