If you want to capture photos of cool people in cool cars in Havana, its very easy.
All you have to do is just stand at a street corner and just wait about 1 second :)
Thats about how long it took for this scene to show itself.
When i looked at the photo after i noticed the driver was looking straight at me.
Who can resist the lineup of cars here, and the clothing on the balcony in the bg! This is Cuba at its best!
thanks for looking
I tried brightening the photo in post processing, but when i did that the walls in the bg were all washed out and over-white. So I kept the exposure as is.

Amazing cars, I wouldn't deny that, and a spontaneous eye-contact could never be wrong. There is nothing wrong with laundry hanging outside the windows either. Even the architecture is fine, or at least it used to be fine. But why did you want to brighten this? I see no need at all for that.

Every car seems to be a work of art here! Not so in any other place I have ever seen, there will always be the boring cars, the work horse of the office worker, the beaten up old taxi, all the usual, but it seems in Cuba the love for old cars runs deep. I really love this beautiful paintwork on the car too.
I'm trying to read the guys expression but cant quite pinpoint it. I get the feeling he is not overly happy being photographed though.

fine Cuba's series. Good street report. Amazing old cars. I see curiosity of driver. Photo I like.
Have a nice evening.

Cet homme avec ces lunettes noir est fier d'être pris en photo avec sa superbe voiture, un style de voitures qui semble très important a la Havane un peu comme le cigare :-)
Top dans la lumière et les couleurs

Craig, there appears to be no shortage of amazing old cars in Havana. Nice capture, with three cars in a row. And nice shades on the driver!

Beautiful image of the past in present days. Time stopped in Havana, which was a very nice city, a long time ago, no doubt, but now looks as if it had suffered an earthquake.

Cet alignement d'anciennes voitures colorées est très surprenant. Avec les façades défraîchies en arrière plan, on a vraiment l'impression que la photo date des années 50!

Nice row of cool cars in striking colours. Laundry in the bg and rather dilapidated but picturesque houses. In Geaorgia there are a lot of old cars, but quite different of course, they reminded me Polish street thirty years ago.
Happy Easter to you and Tosca

your shots of Havana have me hankering for a trip to witness these scenes first hand. I love these wonderful old US cars and in this setting they look all the more amazing and cool. Retro magic!
Enjoy the weekend - B.

Well, it seems like a non sense question... at everything! You don't see this everyday at home :P
Nice street scene, I like it.

Yes, this sums up Cuba in a nutshell indeed. Old houses, old cars in bright colors and cool guys in even cooler sunglasses. Great shot.

Like Gert, I can really see no reason why you would want to make the image lighter; it looks perfect to me. I like the composition very much with the cars lined up in a row and that superb architecture as a backdrop. The guy making eye contact is a real bonus.

Il ne faut pas t'en faire, il sait très bien que c'est sa voiture que tu prends en photo. Cela me rappelle ma jeunesse, au temps ou on sortait tous le coude à la portière.J'aime aussi les deux voitures stationnées en arrière plan.

Very fine old cars! An interesting view with not only old cars but also some fine architecture as backdrop.

Sensational is as real image, the atmosphere in the streets of Havana, in this case with the facades of these houses and three cars coming out in the plane, three true museum pieces, here the driver of the first car, seems to look at you while you catch your image.
Very well managed the brightness and sharpness to enjoy this beautiful picture, which I love.
Gorgeous color, these natural shades.
Have a happy weekend.

Hi Craig - Which car would you choose? I like the green one in the middle, a great shape and cool colour don't you think?
I really like your Cuba shots. Packed with detail, colour and texture. Love the pink washing it pops out and contrasts the green of the cars well.
Hope you are enjoying a peaceful Easter weekend

Hello again Craig,
I love the cars; I love the colors, and that man looking at you is great, too. :-) I just can't understand how they keep those cars running. Cubans must have some kind of super powers! A whole nation filled with working cars from the 1950's, and with no access to new parts either...

Another nice car shot from you here & this time in motion. Excellent street photography with fine light and sharpness nice to see the wide angle shoot. Very good one TFS.

I have to agree with others here - to me this doesn't look at all dark and those cars - especially the one with the driver staring at you - stand out brilliantly against the much more sombre background of decaying buildings.
I guess that petrol (gasoline) must be pretty cheap here otherwise, although people probably have very little money for food, clothes and new cars, it must cost them quite a lot to spend days cruising around in these huge "gas guzzlers".
Another brilliant photograph from the streets of Havana, made even better by the human contact too. Lovely light and colours, perfect exposure (to me) and exquisite details and sharpness.

When I saw the three old cars, than I thought immediate at Cuba, it country with the most old American cars in the world.
Lovely picture with the big cars as subject.
Perspective and depth make these picture very well.
Sharpness and clarity make these picture attractive.
Excellent composition and nice presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice Easter weekend,

Beautiful cars! I think that's an approving look that's says it's okay to photograph this beauty (a '58 Chevy?). Green paint must be cheap in Cuba. Good lighting and sharp details. Well done, tfs.

Interesting Havana street scene for the omnipresent 1950s U.S. autos. The reason for Cuba's ongoing haven for 50s autos is because our country's embargo on preventing cars sold to Cuba once they became a Communist country. Therefore they keep these old classics running, and no competition from our newer vehicles. Hopefully someday the U.S. will work hard on establishing peace with Cuba and permit sharing, etc....
Thanks for sharing,

What a shot, indeed hard to ignore those Yank Irons unless we are colour blind! They guide the eye into the whole street scene smoothly full of olde worlde atmosphere. It's a well organised, balanced and sharp focused image in excellent clarity.
Beauty a bucketful. My congrats
