If the kids in Cuba are not playing baseball in the streets, they're playing soccer. Soccer for me, Football if you live anywhere other than North America :)
Here we have a group of kids playing soccer on the Malecon.
The reason why you don't see the ball is because the boy on the far right of the image is leaning over the edge to grab it as it bounced over - even though it looks like he's taking a nap :)
Its surprising to see what they use for nets too, and in the bg is a glimpse of Havana. The shot was taken just before sunset on a warm evening.
This was one of the very few occasions where kids were playing with a soccer ball that actually bounced!
I'll show you what I mean in my next photo.

I can feel the frustration too. Breaks in a game can be no happy moment.
Nice view of the city. This is a superb shot.

Something lads do all over the world, play football on improvised pitches. What makes this shot particularly attractive is the light. Good choice of the panoramic format to concentrate on the action. Well presented daily life composition.

Ciao e buona domenica

As I've said before, your trip to Cuba has brought about a revelation in your photography! Now no longer wonderful pictures of interesting and sometimes strange pieces of architecture, but your recent photographs have had the added appeal of including lots of interesting human beings too!
A fine scene this, showing young lads doing what young lads do the world over. And a fine panorama of Havana in the background too. Nice light and colours, good composition and, as always, exquisite details and sharpness.

Les enfants s'amusent beaucoup à La Havane. Peu importe ce qu'ils utilisent, ils ont du plaisir et un large sourire.J'aime beaucoup la lumière de fin de journée et le calme autour du terrain de jeu.

Nice DL shot from the most famous esplanade of Havana. Soccer on concrete is not a good idea, one may lose his fair share of skin if he falls. The way the boy is searching for the ball is very humorous. Like the way the boy is drying the sweat with his vest rolled up his chest. That is exactly how we would relax after a football game. The cityscape at the BG provides for an attractive backdrop for the game. Thanks for sharing.

You've intrigued me with the balls that bounce note. Now I'm picturing bowling balls for soccer! A great urban scene with the city sprawling behind and the wondful light and color of the sky. The color of the ground where the kids are playing made me think at first that it was snow on the ground. I guess it doesn't snow much here though. A very nice lively active scene.
All the best.
P.S. no ghosts at Skryne that I know of, but it does feel like a place where there should be! I found a new abandoned mansion today that I could explore inside, I have to research any spooky history on that place.

I enjoy the photo and the note accompanying it. I am really curious about the following one now :) And it is amazing what conditions could be adapted to make us able to do what we love.
I like not only the actual match but also the surroundings and pinkish sky which gives pretty background for the scene.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice Sunday!

I am always very happy when I see young children play, I like not of boys along the street and waiting on the evening without target.
Excellent perspective and depth picture.
Sharpness and colours make these picture attractive.
A nice composition, excellent captured.
Nice done, TFS.
Have a nice week,

When I was a child growing up in the Philippines we to improvised a lot to play games because just like Cuba my old country is poor. You'd be surprise what a young mind can create. Nice capture of this action with good lighting and nice details. Well done, tfs.

Your gallery of images from Cuba represents poignant history of a country so close to the United States and so culturally distant. That experience of course must echo the Canadians', except that you are able to visit and see for yourself. It must be a veritable time capsule.

Hello dear Craig,
A quite wllknown scene also in my country !
An empty place and a ball enough for a heavy fight !
Very well seen and captured.
TFS and best regards

this is a great image of everyday life. the kids playing football just captures 'youth' in its entirety. and what a stunning backdrop with the skyline almost acting as the stands in a stadium. the light in the sky is wonderful and the resulting colours are beautiful.

very fine picture showing this wonderful daily life scenery that can be observed all over the world. Football or soccer, there are many people who like to play or see the matches ...I like the picture very much. TFS.
With regards from Luxembourg

A very nice shot, yes, it seem kids all over the world like to play football, not the American football :) I think par of it is that all you need it a ball and it can be done just about anywhere. dirt field, concrete, asphalt, rocky field, hilly field....Where baseball, you need bate, groves...Basket ball you need even surface, basket....Tennis, you need court and braket....anyway, don't evne mention golf :).
A nice shot great sunset light and the city skyline...

Long time no see. A lot of work and a film festival has kept me away from TE recently. It's impossible to make up for everything I missed but I have glanced through your latest pictures quickly. You have continued to combine daily life and architecture very nicely and I think your Cuban photos generally appeal more to me than most of you earlier pictures. This is one of those that capture a pleasant and warm atmosphere very nicely, this one with a good evening light and colors.
