Photographer’s Note
The Irazu volcano is located at 31 km in the North-West of CARTAGO. It culminates to 3432 m of altitude. It is a volcano with the heavy eruptive past.
The first eruption goes up at 1723 and the last at 1963, the very same day or chair it KENEDY returned visit in Costa-Rica. Its last sudden starts go back to 1991, and currently one can see only some fumeroles.
The principal crater has a 300 meters depth, and a diameter of 1050 meters. It forms integral part of the National park of Irazu of a surface of 2309 hectares, created in 1995.
One meets there coyotes, pig-épics and some birds.
By good weather, one can see since the top the two oceans, the Atlantic and the Pacific.
It is necessary really that the sky is released, which is rare.
The entry with the park is paying, 6 $ in 2003.

What a nice view! I hope that one day you'll come down to Malaysia to snap some nice pix here with me. It's an exotic country! - Rahimi (neokreo@yahoo.com)

Interesting color inside the volcano! Was that touched up or is that the natural color? I like the tiny little yellow flower in the left bottom corner. Just barely noticeable. The mint green reminds me of green tea ice cream. :)

Beautiful shot with great contrast. Pity the sky is so washed out. Colours are great and the clarity is very good too.

What an intriguing color of the water! IMHO you may want to crop out a large part of the sky as it does not add much to the overall picture. Very good photo of the vulcano!

Love the colours in the water and the textures on the walls. A fine viewpoint and a nice day for it; too bad the sky is rather blown out with just a touch of blue on the right. Still that isn't where the eye looks and this scene is very fine.

Pascal, it reminds me of the volcano used in James Bond movie - You only live twice (if I'm not mistaking the movie name). This is a really good TE shot, The water colors is superb!. I agree with Tai about cropping the dull sky.

Hola Pascal.
This green tone is grandiose, magnificent contrast. Here in Tabasco we do have rivers with sulphurous waters and can we enjoy beautiful tones in green-blue color, don't some people like the aroma of these waters however, although this has its advantages, does somehow this maintain far to the mosquitos, do tell me Pascal that so intense the aroma is around this place?. Cordial greetings. Excellent week beginning. *Ninfa Urania*

I have been in this place, I could not catch a good photo since he was cloudy. Congratulations because you obtained it.
I captured a photography in the the volcano way, you can see it to see if you recognize the place.

Hi Pascal, terrific, you got to stand on the rim! I have a few shots of this volcano from the air so I can confirm the water is green! Certainly you can crop some of the top or looking at te right side it seems there is some detail in the sky which might be evident in the original and therefore recoverable. Your notes are informative. I really like how the single yellow flower brings some life and depth to the foreground. I am involved with a coffee project from CR and it will have an association with InBioparque.
A very beautiful country and your shot prompts me that I must get some of photos scanned soon!

Wow, excellent picture. The green water is fascinating. I'm wondering about the scale: the picture almost makes it look like a little pond, but in your note you wrote that it has a diameter of 1050 meters...

Chanceux! Je n'ai pas eu la chance d'une telle vue. J'ai aperçu le cratère, mais à peine quelques minutes, il s'est ensuite masqué sous un épais brouillard. Vous avez bien saisi les couleurs, absolument réelles du reste.
