This crocodile lives along the Rio Tarcoles within Costa Rica's Carara National Park. Carara is also popular for bird watching, including orange-chinned parakeets, parrots, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, motmots, jacamars, manakins, antbirds, various trogons, and lots of waterbirds like anhinga, heron, egret and kingfishers.
Tourism is Costa Rica's main economy and having approximately one third of its land set aside as national parks and preserves enhances tourism.

Thanks for giving me one more touchstone for understanding the ancient nature of these beasts! Those TEETH! Like a dinosaur!
Hmmm.... I looked for the EXIF data and it isn't here? I was curious as to how brave (or foolhardy!) you were -- was this shot with a short lens, or a very, very long one? Looking only at the depth compression of the foliage on the right, my guess is "medium telephoto," 100-150 mm? regardless of the hardware, though, WELL DONE!

yestedary I was seeing a documentary about alligators and crocodiles in Animal Planet Channel. I like this big pre-historical like animals, they are curious and monstrous.
Great photo of this big one staring at you.

This is a well-exposed, sharp, well-composed, beautiful photo of the ugliest critter I have set my eyes upon. My, look at those fangs, they're ready to tear one's leg off. Three cheers for the photo, a boo and a hiss for the critter!
Cheers + 2,

What a beautiful smile and well kept teeth. I guess this guy retains the brushing twice a day philosophy! Guess though that what he brushes with is probably a bit more violent than what we would be used to.
Funny, even though these are without doubt scary creatures, I do find them quite beautiful in the ancient appearance. Truly like a modern dinosaur. This is a great capture of this one, I'm sure he would be more than happy to hang this on his dining room wall!
All the best

I was on the Río Tárcoles a few months ago, and saw many of these fearsome crocodiles. Your photo shows the stealth and terror that so define these creatures. Excellent POV, exposure and sharpnes. Very well done, indeed!

Damn! Those guys are scarier than the gators I used to see in the bayous. Awesome pov of this croc and those teeth, won't want to be near them though. That must have been an experience to visit this park. Sharp details. Well done, tfs.

Gosh I love this unique, tooth-tooth view. It's quite stunning and harrowing.
