Is it today the first day of Spring? I do not see the signs of it through my window. In rather unpleasant day something relaxing, something to dream about..

It is the main street in Caye Caulker, small sandy island about 30 kilometers from Belize City. The island is small, so no one is in a hurry - what for? No cars at all when in an hour or so you can go from one end of the island to the other. The main attraction are the boat tours. It is a great fun! You go with the boat to the place near barrier reef and there snorkel in fantastic warm water and sharks and rays and barracudas swim around you. Sharks are not so big - maybe one meter long but rays are really impressive. After the trip we went to the bar for pina colada, the bar in reggae style, and to our surprise, the barkeeper talk to us in Polish. He was from Katowice!!

Belize, formerly British Honduras, is a country in Central America. Once part of the Mayan and Spanish Empires, it was most recently affiliated with the British Empire, prior to gaining its independence in 1981.
Belize has a diverse society, composed of many cultures and speaking many languages. It is the only country in Central America where English is the official language. Kriol and Spanish are also widely spoken. With 22,960 km² of territory and 320,000 people the population density is the lowest in the Central American region and one of the lowest in the world. Culturally, Belize considers itself to be both Caribbean and Central American.

The palms have strange shape. Half a year earlier big hurricane destroyed the island. Hurricane Keith, the strongest hurricane of the 2000 Atlantic hurricane season, caused great damage across Belize and southern Mexico. Earlier a hurricane Hattie split the island in two parts.
