Sky on Fire, a photo from Christ Church, South

Photographer's Note

This shot is a detail from one of my sunset photos. However I found the colours and shapes in the clouds to be more interesting than the sun itself.

To me this picture looks like there is a fire in the sky producing smoke billowing across the heavens. I think there is also a resemblance to a nebula - a large galactic gas cloud where suns are born.

I see that you are really getting into clouds now and leaving the land out! A good shot of Towering Cumulus with a few whisps of Cirrus.

What an amazing moment. Sometimes if the weather is windy, the sunsets looks really reds with this kind of colours you capture.

Hi Jonathan,
I really like the different shapes and colors here, there's a very large range in the color gradient across the sky. The thumbnail looks like a painting. Well captured.
