Photographer’s Note

The queen conch is a large marine snail and it hoops around when it moves by using its large muscular foot.
They can live up to 20 years, attain 12 inches and weigh half a pound. A conch grows its shell in clockwise direction as the shell expands in order to make way for animal's growing body. It takes about 4 years for the shell lip to form indicating animal's sexual maturity.

The conch is a primary source of protein for locals living on Bahamas islands. The demand for its sweet, delicate meat is so great that conch has been greatly exploited and immature snails have been collected.

It can be eaten raw, cooked, fried.... any shape or form - it tastes delicious!

Also, (according to well informed locals :)) this is apparently a great APHRODISIAC !

Very good photo, I like the motive, that is very original, the colours and the detairs. The moment you took it, the animal going out, is perfect. Very good comments. I'm very familiarzed with queen conchs but you have provided some details I didn't know.

Forma i kolor wspania³y. Dobry kadr, z piêknym opisem. Brakuje tylko per³y. Rzeczywi¶cie trochê PG trochê prze¶wituje

I don't know why, but I really like your photo. Part of it is the caption.

I guess because I can just feel it. I could pick it up right off the screen of my computer. I can smell it. I can see the claw threatening any threat.

And great colors, of course that is due to the Conch, but also your capture of it. I wish I could see more detail.

I also wish I could eat it.
