Photographer’s Note
This picture is a departure for me. I'm now exploring notices to the public that should/may be of interest to TE-ers.
This is taken in Nassau, Bahamas, in the Caribbean. It is an important public health message to the public, written hopefully in the terms that are explicitely understood.
I should now confess to TE-ers that I'm a physician and I have worked in a variety of countries, 3rd world and otherwise; now in Canada. So there's a personal bias here.
Here's the translation:
Protect your things (penis and other reproductive parts). Use a condom every time. Condoms protect you against AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy.
Lets hope that the message is getting through.
Yours protectively,
JOhn

I love this picture for the way it fits TE's aims: teaching about the world. It is reassuring to see this kind of health education being made elsewhere, and I too hope it has the required effect.

It's an eye-catching & amusing piece of public inofrmation. Yet still important. Hopefully the message is getting through to people, sometimes the message needs to be loud!
For me, it's a good contribution within the ethos of the site.

Very amusing and serious message at the same time John - great stuff - what you didn't own up to was living in the Caribbean for so long too!!
best wishes Kev
