[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Antigua is about 14 miles long and 11 miles wide, encompassing 108 square miles. Its highest point is Boggy Peak at 1319 ft.

This shot was taken on a rainy overcast day adjacent to the cruise ship dock in the late afternoon light. As an experiment i used photoshop to turn the shot black and white and with a little tweaking of the contrast and levels and a small crop off the right side i got this picture.

Many people on the cruiseship were very dissapointed that day due to the lack of sun and so headed straight for the local bar. I found this shot, enjoyed the view for a few minutes..... and then went to the local bar:)IMO Beautiful places should never be taken for granted even if it is wet and miserable.

The photo was taken a few years back with my powershot A80 digital compact, It's really the shot that gave me the photography bug. I was amazed at how much the feeling of a photo can change just by taking away the colour.

I didnt keep track of the photo details SS F-stop etc sorry.

Great photo, Christian, and your title sums it up nicely. This one is all about the mood...gloomy, yet dreamy & evocative. Well rendered in B & W, and with great sharpness - I like the raindrops on the water. Nice one! Regards,

I think this is an excellent shot Christian; great moody black and white, and your composition is excellent. Good use of the almost submerged wooden posts to fill the area of water in the foreground. Not only do they make an interesting foreground but because they are set out in lines, they have the effect of drawing the eye into the scene.

Hi,

What I really enjoy about your photo is its "classical" composition. The submerged wooden (or rocky I'm not sure)posts leads the eyes toward the centre of the photo and the ship on the right toward posts. What I love most in photos are intersection of lines, geometrical use of nature. And you've managed it quite well.
