[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Fishermen tie 3 coconut logs together with hand made coconut twine, and go out into the Arabian Sea to fish. In my early trips to Varkala beach, the fishing was good, as you can see here. Each fish must be hand picked from the net. In future trips, giant ships with drag nets (scouring the bottom), took all the fish before they could reach these local fishermen. They earn little for their fish. A huge bag is a few rupees. When no fish were to be caught, for months, there were demonstrations in the big city port, and prayers on the beach. Life is fragile in India.

Very nicely captured everyday scene. The motive is really interesting (and hte note adds to the interest). Compositionwise, I really like the two diagonals. One cames from the heap of fish and the raft. The other comes from the shadow of the sisherman ending, conveniently, at the dog. Well seen. The light is lovely and mostly well exposed. I do wish that we'd been able to see his facial features a little better. But that is a nitpick. It is a fine photo full of atmosphere.

Beautifull dailylife shot. Colours are beautifull. I like the composition too with just a part of the nett full of fish, letting us guess how many fish there is at all, and the dog.all is well done.

A good catch for both the fisherman and for you! A good,simple grouping of the man,fish and dog in brown and silver gets us in close to the action.
