[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In 1631 Shah Jahan, emperor during the Mughal's period of greatest prosperity, was griefstricken when his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, died during the birth of their daughter Gauhara Begum, their fourteenth child.Contemporary court chronicles concerning Shah Jahan's grief form the basis of the love story traditionally held as the inspiration for the Taj Mahal.

Construction of the Taj Mahal was begun soon after Mumtaz's death. The principal mausoleum was completed in 1648, and the surrounding buildings and garden were finished five years later. Visiting Agra in 1663, the French traveller François Bernier wrote the following:

I shall finish this letter with a description of the two wonderful mausoleums which constitute the chief superiority of Agra over Delhi. One was erected by Jehan-guyre in honor of his father Ekbar; and Chah-Jehan raised the other to the memory of his wife Tage Mehale, that extraordinary and celebrated beauty, of whom her husband was so enamoured it is said that he was constant to her during life, and at her death was so affected as nearly to follow her to the grave.

Hi Assi, I like the soft light and the dreamy reflection. Your photo has really captured the romantic aspects of this unique building. I once stood on the same spot and also photographed the Taj, but you've made better use of the light in your photo. Great stuff!

Ryno

Really excellent picture. How did you manage the picture? What did you do with the foreground?
Thanks

Shalom Assi. I have seen many a shot of this inspirational beauty, but yours definitely has an extra something. Whatever you did, you lifted this poetic building into an even more esoteric state by making terra firma also a thing pf wonder. Very creative. Regards. Klaudio.

Photo fréquente mais traitement original.Dommage que tu n'a pas redressé le Taj Mahal de quelques degrés vers la droite!J'aimerais connaître que tu as appliqué à cette photo!

A beautiful sunrise shot! I want to know how you achieved the blurring effect on the front part of the image. Those tricks don't usually work, but this time it did.

One historical note: Shahjahan originally intended to have a second mausoleum built for himself, in black stone, on the opposite side of the Yamana River. However, he was deposed by his son and spent the last 5 years of his life imprisoned in Agra Red Fort, starting out at the Taj every day. When he died, his son had him placed in the same tomb, which as a result is more crowded than planned.

Tov maod!
