Photographer’s Note
Vung Tau, my lovely hometown. I left this beautiful little city 24 years ago when I was about 8. This place, to me still the most beautiful place on earth. the only place I truly feel "at home".
Started in the 15th century Portugal Ships were using this place as a resting area. They named it Cinco Chagas Verdareiras.
in 1862 the Nguyen Dynasty gave France most of southern part of Vietnam, Vung Tau was included in this deal. The French called it Cap Saint Jacques.
When Kinh Thanh Thai of the Nguyen Dynasty was in charge, He tried to overthrown the France but failed. They forced him off his throne and moved him to Reunion, Africa. On the way to Africa, the King was keep here, in Vung Tau.
I shot this picture at the White mansion, where the French used to isolated him before ship him to Africa.
Today, Vung Tau is one of the most popular resort place in Viet Nam. Only 120 Km from the heart of Saigon about 2.5 hours travel by car, bus, or motorcycle this place is a popular place for the people who just want to escape the noisy, dusty, and overcrowed city life just for a day or two.
This picture was put together with 4 shot using Autostitch software.

Due to my eye disease, I prefer to enjoy looking at the large version, which I think the best after the other versions — including the one in "VeeBeeDotCom".

Nice panorama, Phuoc. It looks so quiet for a town in Vietnam. Cheers . . . David

Awesome panoramic, great job putting the pics together. I really like your heavy black frame, it adds to the picture. Your hometown is beautiful.
