Photographer's Note
This is a corner of the living room Mr. Kunio Maekawa's residence. Originally built in 1942 in Shinagawa Ward, it is said to be one of the early contributors to modern Japanese architecture. This now stands in the Edo-Tokyo Architectural Museum.

In answer to Sita4ram's question...
Thanks for the kind and encouraging critique.
In answer to your question; I haven't altered the photo in any way. Basically the whole front of this room is a series of windows, and the light falling on the lamp shade is actually from the next window along. Therefore, the light from it, and the shadow of the shade was out of frame to the left of the photo.
I hope this answers your question.

This modern looking photo highlights the modern Japanese architecture quite well. The various angular shapes created by the shoji screen and its shadows, photo frame and staircase are offset by the large spherical shoji light at top right, making this a cool shot.

A very nice shot. I am surprised it didnt get more critics. I can almost feel the warmth of indoors on a sunny day.
no critics... I love the colors, the composition and the way the light leads from the big lamp shade to the staircase.
one question though...
wasn't the lamp shade suppose to cast shadow on the wall where it hits the light? is this one of those 'find whats different' photos? :)
great photo anyway... and if you did clone out the shadow, great cloning :)
