3.41p.m. - One of the characteristics of karst mountains formation is the presence of caves and Halong is no exception as it boasts of around 12 already explored caves and many more still to be uncovered in the region.
Sung Sot cave is situated on Bo Hou Island and is the finest and widest in Halong, It covers an area of 10,000 m2. It was the French who first discovered it and named it as “Grotte des surprises”.
The interior is nicely illuminated and walking through it is a great and nice experience, not like some of the other caves that I had visited before which has damp and slippery ground filled with smelly birds and bats droppings all over the place. With the help of the extra lighting inside it makes it so much easier to take shots of the interior, not to say the effect it created though not that natural.

Hello Aloysius,
I think it is the first time I see an permanently illuminated cave!
And I notice the have used light with a variation in colour temperature, giving an awesome effect and a great sense of depth...
A well balanced composition, but i miss the bats... a cave needs bats, hehehe!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Aloysius
An unknown feature from Halong. The artificial lights with their different colours provides quite an ambience, may not be natural, but beautiful all the same. 1/4 sec. hand held is a commendable effort & the picture is pin-sharp. Well done!

Angshu
