Thien Mu Pagoda
 |

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Thien Mu Pagoda is built on a hill overlooking the Perfume river. Here you can see the 21m high seven story Thap Phuoc Duyen tower which was constructed under the reign of Emperor Thieu Tri in 1844. Each of the seven storeys is dedicated to a manushi-Buddha, which is a Buddha that appeared in human form.
The Thien Mu Pagoda was origanally founded in 1601 by Nguyen Hoang.
According to legend the fairy woman (Thien Mu) appeared and told the people that the lord woiuld come to build a pagoda for the country's posperity. On hearing this Nguyen Hoang ordered the pagoda to be constructed here. Over the centuries it's buildings have been destroyed and rebuilt several times. During the 60's and 80's it became a flashpoint of antigoverment demonstrations.

Hallo Wanda,
Fijn weekend, Henk
Hello Wanda,
Interesting note regarding this place. The pagoda is definitely a pretty building with its fine architectural details. The image is very effective because of its low angle, looking up perspective. The inclusion of the stairs and people is very good to give us scale and also show us the surroundings of the main buildings. The black and white rendering works very well to make the image look older. Nice overall composition. THanks Wanda.
