Ten years after Photo

Photographer’s Note

A jump in the past.
Summer 1998, Vietnam, Ha Long Bay.

I think that i took this image just outside from a large grotto close to the top of one of the many islands of the bay.

Some fishermen boat and nothing more.
In the summer '98 i think that there were not more than 3 travel companies with tourist packet for excursion on the Bay with old medium size ship for a total of not more 50-60 people everyday.
There was also an helicopter company that offered a travel pack from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay and back in Hanoi.
But it was really expansive.

Ten years after i have really few images of the Bay in my mind. I remember the 3 days spent there as really beautiful, shipping in that fantastic corner of Vietnam, but just with the pictures i can have some mor e focused image.

For this reason i cannot believe that there is people that don't like took picture during travels!

mangigique image, avec toutes ces rocher noirs et vert, le bâteaux avec un mangigique cile, 2 bleus différents, superbe.

I was just in Decemeber in Vietnam. In the harbour we could count about 30-40 boats starting to the Halong bay. In the bay it was crowdy like on a highway.
A lovely landscape and great perspective. Well captured.

Hello Paolo,

Very nice this scanned picture, it's very difficult for a good image to scan.
The rocks are a little bit dark but the blue sky make this everyting very well.
nice composition and good presentation too.

Che bella che deve essere questa baia Paolo , un paesaggio davvero particolare e molto interessante con le rocce sul mare ricoperte di vegetazione , bella composizione , complimenti, mi rifiuto di pensare che in un posto così bello possano essere successe quelle cose atroci che la storia recente purtroppo ci ricorda .

bella foto...anche se credo che questo clima bucolico sia già stato profondamente corroso dall'orde di turisti.
ciononostante immagini come queste sono un bell'invito a visitare questo paese!

c'est un site extraordinaire a visité!
mais il faut avoir de bonne condition de lumiere pour faire de bonnes photos ce qui est rare dans cette region!
moi j'ai fait des photos en 2007 mais pas toujours satisfait du resultat!

the image has a nice quality to be scanned. I like the shape of the rocks / mountains? and the green tone they have. they make a great contrast with the sky.

What a beautiful peaceful place, how smart of you to travel before every place got crowded.

Who was it that said, "Memory requires an image."? It is wonderful to go back through old photos and remember. We've made memory books for my parents with special events clearly labelled and they lave to page through them. I have even seen a movie of my sister from before I was born.

bella immagine di questo celebre posto.
Hai ragione, fotografare durante i viaggi fa durare il viaggio all'infinito. Soprattutto ora con le macchine digitali, che consentono di scattare all'infinito senza le limitazioni delle pellicole.
Anche io in questi giorni sto ripercorrendo il mi primo viaggio in India attraverso le vecchie foto .

Ma un giorno tu dovrai raccontarmi tutto di Perhentian e della Malaysia, sono stanca e sto sognando una spiaggia bianca e penso che si tratti di quella di Perhentian!
