Photographer’s Note
.
In an afternoon as I was hunting for sunset pictures, the sun betrayed me and I was treated with a cloudy sky. What I found was local people still have to prepare for their night catch and I snapped this picture of these fishers on their way to the nets.
Please share with me a moment...
Thanks,
Nhiem
This is one of the best laid-back getaways in Vietnam. The town of Phan Thiet itself is a bustling little fishing port — quite picturesque and good for a day's visit — but you'll want to get out to the long, sprawling, sandy stretch of beach to the east: Mui Ne. This is a popular weekend getaway from nearby Saigon, and development in recent years has been rapid. You'll find some very nice upscale resorts and comfy little boutique bungalow properties.
The consistent winds of Mui Ne Bay bring wind- and kite surfers from all over the world. Farther east and north along the coast, there are vast sand dunes, like a beachside Sahara, and inland there's the famous and strangely verdant Silver Lake amid the towering, shifting sands — a good day trip. These spots, as well as other small fishing villages, make for great day trips. There are also some local Cham ruins, and the town of Phan Thiet, famous for a brand of fish sauce (nuoc mam) made here, is worth exploring (especially the market). Phan Thiet is a good getaway from Saigon or to take a break as you make your way down the coast.

Wow, I'll definitely share this moment. With pleasure. What an unusual scene. It seems stylized like theater. The people, oddly, seem geometric and two dimension, while the rocks they stand on seem to undulate like the sea, but the sea itself behind them is flat and still, cut by such a razor straight horizon. All so still, except for the motion of the fisherman's leg. -Hugh

Such an excellent picture. The colors are excellent, the sky so beautiful with the two different ares. Light is so amazing on the rocks and on he people. A very nice one.

Hi Nhiem,
A beautiful documentary photo about the fishermen. Your composition is escellent and i like the contrast between the cold sky and the warm rocks. The fishermen in the middle are perfectly exposed.

Pierre

Hello Nhiem,
Excellent photography! Really a great capture, the result looks almost staged (though it obviously isn't). Great light management to bring out the lanterns. Perfect time of the day for this kind of shot, but expertly executed too.
