I see that you were also fascinated by these girls in their traditional dress as I was. It is indeed really graceful. I like your shot here with her hat in particular, and the colours in the background matching the hat. Well captured. Well composed as she has space to cycle into.

Le sujet est parfaitement mis en valeur et bien complété par la note. Comme dans la plupart de tes images, le controle de la lumière et des couleurs sont remarquables.

Même avec ce chapeau, cette jeune fille reste très élégante avec cette tunique. Je remarque qu'elle est obligée d'en tenir un bout pour qu'il ne traine pas par terre ou dans la roue arrière. Cet uniforme n'a semble pas été conçu pour circuler à vélo ;-)

What I like the most is her posture on top of that bike. The bike itself is something special, out of this world. I can not a single child riding a bike like that in Australia. Behind the girl are what seem to be very nice restaurants with white table clothing something rare these days in Australia too. Your photo is technically very well done with lots of interest, good sharpness all over e excellent details as, for example, the cobbled street. Well done.

A very nice scene, very colourful, i would like to photograph this myself.
You used a fast shutter here, which makes the whole photo a froozen image. I would have loved to see some movement in the picture.
Nevertheless a nice composed and colourful picture.

Hi Vincent, when i saw the pciture on the thumbnail level at the first i thinked to Hoi An, that wonderful small city, full of colours, grace and peace.
maybe 'cause the girl on the bike, with that wonderful purple dress and her grace remind me to the wonderful days spent in that fantastic city.

We don't need to see her face to know she is a beautiful girl. She sits on her bicycle with so much grace and elegance in the beautiful lilac au dai. You framed it perfectly leaving space for her to ride into. Looking carefully we can see how she has control of the long ends of the au dai to prevent them becoming entangled. I'm surprised she isn't wearing the face mask and long silk gloves so often seen.

Bonjour Vincent -

When I opened this image it just screamed V.N. and I was right when I looked at the top to verify. This lovely girl, her national costume, riding an old bicycle tells the story of this ancient country and French colony. I like the composition with the girl riding into the scene, it is dynamic as well as pleasing. The hat at first looked like a remnant from more unpleasant times (before hers for sure) but a closer look cleared that impression from my mind. I like it, Well done!

I agree with you about the grace of the uniform. It's a beautiful snapshot, with the elegant young lady on his old fashioned bike. Ah, and the funny hat! :-) The light and the tones of the uniform enhance her figure very nicely.
That said, it lacks the impact of your last post. Not that this isn't striking and attractive, simply the other is even more. It would have been wiser to post this one before, so we could say to this one: "oh, bravo, très bien" and then to the other one: "oh, encore plus bien! merveilleuse!". :-)

Excellent capture of this daily life scene, Vincent. It should be also in the transports category. Very good note and funny title, indeed - I don't know what was the first one, but this fits just right. She seems so elegant in that graceful uniform, her back straight and a hat that doesn't go well with the package :) Nice background as well. Great post.

It seems to be compulsory to photograph these gracefully dressed girls in Vietnam, and I'm sure they'd be the first people I'd photographed if I ever visited!
Your framing is very good here, leaving plenty of space for her to move into, but I do find the image a bit static. If you had used a slower shutter speed, you could have blurred the wheels a bit, injecting a sense of movement into the image.
Other than that, a good shot.

Hi Vincent. You are right - the schoolgirls in Vietnam are undoubtedly the most elegant looking in the world. It looks like this girl has added some trim of her own to the 'ordinary' hat of this type that you see on the heads of many Vietnamese women.
