My Many TE-Faces (200th Post) Photo

Photographer’s Note

To celebrate my 200th post in TE, I searched from all of my un-posted pictures the one that exemplifies my life here. This is it!

These are my many "faces". I am usually a "happy" person thus, I am always in the lookout for happy faces to capture. But sometimes, I am drawn into sad and soulful looks. For me, these are far more powerful images that need to be shown if only for the purpose of learning more about the world and its people.

I enjoy looking at the many beautiful pictures here in Trekearth. I smile, I frown, I laugh out loud, I despaired at some images featured in this site. Trekearth is "like a box of chocolate"... Trekearth is like this picture. Trekearth elicits a world of emotion.

I am always looking forward to comments about my pictures and those about the many pictures that I like. Some of the comments make me smile, laugh, disappointed, etc.I can take some of them with a grain of salt and some, I simply ignore. Just like the puppets in the picture, I can look straight at you in the eyes or I can look sideways. I can hide half of my face or I can disappear in the dark.

My colors are limited. Some people might even think I am predictable: portraits and portraits. But I try to be the best of my "limited" self. And you helped me make my colors become richer.

After 200 posts, I look jaded, maybe a bit cracked and dirty but I am still smiling. Thanks to all of you. Special thanks to Ken (flip89) for introducing me to the world of TE. Thanks to my childhood friends in TE especially to Claude, Maciek and Eric. And thanks to Adam for sheltering us. I am 200-post old but I am still raring to go a mile further. And before this note gets a mile longer...I will stop.

Great image and even finer note Manny. You are definitely one of the bright lights on this site both because of your work behind the camera and in processing images, as well as the insight you bring to the moment. This image and the note are a perfect fit, beautifully composed as always. I hope so long as I choose to visit this site that I will have images you've posted to enjoy. Thanks for every one of your images Manny. And thanks for being so honest in the sentiments you express. They mean a great deal to me.

First, congratulation with your 200 photo. It's a nice one but that's only formality, but it very good chosen. Manuel with the faces. I am glad I know you from this great side. And I am glad to bee here, and knowing al those photographers, with the same hobby. They learn off each other, and in my fall, I learn English too. Manuel, you are one of my favorites, thats for sure, because the photo's and the well mean critique from you. Manuel, let them come, and thank you.

congratualtions Manuel :) 200 posts, and most of them great in my opinion, that's something. it is a nice picture to celebrate this number, so many faces, which one is you? very nice image and I am happy that you are in TE, thanks to your photos I started taking pictures of kids, and i still remember those sparkling eyes ;) keep shooting and posting!

Seriouly though, I think your pictures are all fantastic and they really do show the life and cultures of the different corners of the world. The notes you post together with the pictures also very interesting and enlightening even! - It's good to be able to travel around with just your pictures.

This is a really good one. I love masks and this one is really nice because of the bunch that you got into the shot. Plus I love the colours too! Nice stuff :)

Hi Manny, First of all,congratulations with your 200 posts! Really a moment to stand still and your notes are so great, always there's something philosophical in it. I'm impressed by the way you look at the world you're again the one who's giving compliments. I'm glad to be on TE, too. From the beginning I've been a fan of you. A very good 200th post and note, congratulations. It's funny how this site makes everybody fell so strongly about it, including myself. I havn't been here very long and thus haven't seen all your pictures, but the ones I've seen are great, and today on you anniversery I'll check them all out. thanks for sharing your wievs on the world we live in.

Nice choice for the 200th pic (as well as your commentary). Good use of depth of field and nice isolation of the subject. The crispness and contrast of the picture really gives it punch and makes the color (though not bright, per se) vibrant.

Yes for sharing all your fine shots - I like to watch the very fine style in your portraits - lots of inspiration even I don't post portraits myself.

Also thanks for your fine note - I can fully agree with your comments - TE surely a special place on the net - glad I found it back in October 2003, It seams we becomed members nearly the same time - and yes - we are still young here ;-))

Very good composition, Manuel, I like the DOF and he variety of expression. I also like the tight crop and the way you have filled the frame with these faces. Very good shot /(reminds me my Terracotta soldiers from Xian, China, shot).
And my best compliments for the first 200 photo, and for the bext 200 to come.
