Photographer’s Note

.

This is another scene of the daily life of Lang Co villagers.

Lang Co is a peaceful, quiet, clean beautiful beach with white sand and palm lines for those who come to visit. Although the commune has been upgraded to “town”, the residents still face the poverty. Lang Co has a large lagoon as safe refuge for boats in typhoon season, but they do not have boat big enough to stay overnight over the ocean. They only have smallest size of boat that fits a team of 5 maximum. The majority of boats is one-man size without engine: this limits the working distance, the duration of actual fishing time and the carrying capacity. Without investment, there is not much different 32 years after the guns silenced. Without improvement, Lang Co fishing “industry” is on its way to classic days when the boat and the fisher are perfect subjects for poetry and novel in an utopian society.
