Photographer’s Note

I took this at the start of our trip. We bought a one way ticket to Hanoi and ended up overlanding to Kabul. This was on the way from Ho Chi Min to the Cambodian border on some Mekong Delta tour. The woman was paddling at the front of the boat (local canoe) up some small offshoot of the Mekong.

The Mekong Delta (Vietnamese: đồng bằng sông Cửu Long "Nine Dragon river delta") is the region in Southeast Vietnam where the Mekong River approaches and empties into the sea through a network of tributaries. The Mekong delta region encompasses a large portion of southeastern Vietnam of 39,000 km² [1]. The area covered by water depends on the season.

I really like what you're attempting there, Ben, there is something sinuous and sensuous in the line there. I think my only regret is a lack of critical sharpness - sure it was no easy shot down there in a small tributary of the Mekong but still.
But I like it overall.

This from scan? Shame about the sharpness. Nice shot though strong diagonal going through the fame and that hat man it makes for such good photos. Enjoy Japan I'm pretty excited about Tokyo.

her hat really stands out, good use of black and white. i love the blurness on her hand which shows motions.

Hi Benjamin,

Interesting effect you got here. Looking at the tumbnail I tought at first that it was a mushron in the woods! The mood is lovelly, but I guess I would like a little more sharpness on the hat.
