After the Rain Photo

Photographer’s Note

For the two days that we were in Sapa it was very misty, but on this day there was a big storm and the mist lifted for an hour or so and this beautiful light appeared. These two H'mong girls were walking towards town after the rain.
Sapa is a former hill station and was built in 1922. There is spectacular scenery all round with terraces on the hills, and mountains in the distance. There is a great market in town, good for photographs and good for buying ethnic minority hand made items.

Hi Wanda,
what a lovely moment here. I like the way those umbrellas hide everything except the legs (and so many details on them, too!) I'm trying to imagine it with a tighter crop - cropping out the upper part above the umbrellas, that is. Some dynamics from the street scene would be lost, though, so I'm not sure.
Anyhow, fresh and lovely, natural moment well caught!

A nice way to show these girls with colorful umbrellas hiding the top of their bodies, but showing traditional dress on the lower half...Good light, fine framing..

Very well seen scene! I like it so much! When traveling, specially in nice countries like this, its really nice to stop and watch the people on the streets. It is at the streets where we see real people and nice situations waiting for our lenses. But... we must have sensibility to see it, and you had a lot of it here. The subject is the key here..

Hi Wanda,
Very nice and well spotted. The umbrellas are very striking and their patterns combine nicely with the unique clothes of their owners. It's also nice to notice the live on the street, cleverly blurred so it doesn't get distracting.
I would prefer not having the right one cropped and also a little less exposed, but those are minor details.

Beautifull picture. I really like the mood here. Focus is perfect with a soft bg and perfect sharpeness on the main subjects. The colorfull unbrellas matchig with the clothes is very nice. Contrasts on the wet pavement makes it very interesting. Beautiful!
