Terrific shot, Caleb! Love the two main figures looking into two different ponits, excellent POV, and terrific color. Very nice play of soft light.

Wonderful deep colours, I like how the two characters look in differnt directions and not at you at all.

I can always tell when you're using that 24-70, C. To devastating effect here, with that low POV that creates intimicacy and clever selective focus. A beautiful tableau of the Flower Hmong, one of the best I've ever seen. You're really flying high these days, man.
best,
Francis

Hello, Caleb--
This is easily my favorite picture from you in a while. Rather than just a straightforward portrait, this really takes a very complex scene and simplifies it to a meaningful and easy to "read" composition. The composition receding from right to left is nice, and directed well by the steps. The girl at right anchors the composition well, filling her third of the frame with her interesting posture--i particularly like the way the bottom of her foot is visible... i don't know why though. Both her expression and the expression of the man behind her seem deep and thoughtful, as if they are caught in their own world, and the left third is filled with the bustle of the city, cramming many people into a much smaller space, offering a contrast to their thoughtful expressions.
Thanks!

Hi Caleb,
You captured an excellent photograph here. The composition is very strong with both the man and women in deep thought while the rest of the people going about their business at the market. Very well done.

Great POV, Caleb! Love the way you got the people around the pillar, each one lost in their own thoughts while no costumer makes them return to earth. Lovely atmosphere.

Hi Caleb,
Sam has expressed what I wanted to say about how this differs from your typical and brilliant portraiture. This has a real complexity to it yet the portraiture is still in there even if it is a street shot.
The left/right back/front halves are opposite yet complementary....
Well Done
Cheers

Hi Caleb. I like street shots like this where you are close in to the people, but they don't seem to know that you are there. As Sam has already pointed out, the faces looking in opposite directions balance the composition well, and even though you have cut off the head of the person on the left, that doesn't seem to matter here because of your low POV and the fact that the focus is on the two subjects on the right. If the person on the left had been walking towards you, it wouldn't have worked so well, because then we wouldn't have been able to see the basket on her back which adds to the 'ethnicity' of the scene. Cheers . . . David
Sadly Caleb, these scenes are no more in Bac Ha. quite disappointing... will post a workshop showing the "new" Bac Ha tomrrow. (limit reached today....)
