After spending many hours with the kites on the sand dunes, the boys were on the way back. To make a shortcut, they slid down and it took only few seconds from the top to the bottom of the 30m height.

Wow! What a splendid POV and composition!
Were you standing at a hill to shoot this picture?
broglia (3598) 2006-10-28 11:23
Simply stunning shot Hoang - I love the long shadows too. The delicate ripples and the huge footprints all add to the effect. Very well balanced in its simple frame. Really great, Roberto

Warm regards from Virginia, Bulent

VEry good photo. Excellent sharpness and texture. Very good and dynamic composition. Great monochromatic shot with just a touch of color in kites.
Really good photo.

Wow, what a shot.
Movement from up to down, but same time those boys are almost flying, or coming out from your picture.
Interesting, changing background. Thanks Hoang.
I have to came watch this picture again and again.
This jump with kites to unknown is something. Running from frizzy sand to smooth sand.
Running to down, but really they go up. Young boys without any prejudices, youthful ardourn, no fear.
Or simply joyfull picture, works also, well seen.
lasscor (7640) 2006-10-28 14:02
Hi Long Ly,
Wonderful graphical and dynamic composition, full of happiness.
Wonderful colours, light and sand textures.
Framboisilla (5277) 2006-10-28 14:20
Une image pleine de vie et de couleurs, les ombres sur le sable rendent l'image très dynamique. Une composition légère, douce et colorée !
chicken (1557) 2006-10-28 14:30
Great, original image and unique perspective. I like the huge "footprints" the kids are making in the sand. Also you managed to capture all the joy and movements. Simply love it!
veronika (6058) 2006-10-28 16:03
this is greaaat :)
Very joyful, it's been some time that i didnt play with a kite - a pity :)
ngythanh (8582) 2006-10-28 16:39
You made me jealous with the kids: I wish I was one of them.
PS: Did you shot from a helicopter or what?
Glint (6171) 2006-10-28 19:41
this is definately my favourite image tonight. Wonderful composition, so simple and so right. The action, the colour and the texture. Perfect!
well done and congratulations.

Superb POV. Such fun. :)
s10001in (0) 2006-10-28 20:45
Nice Photo Hoang.
Sharp & clear.
But somehow I feel incomplete..
Every thing is tightly put in frame.
May the Position where you are to shoot them is not proper..Or you should have got more sand dunes to make more appeling view.
Here I mean to say, a moment where kids are enjoying is like overfloying joy.
Sure I can get that feeling from the actions of kids.
But when I see total composition..I stuck in my mind. & I started feeling may be FUN of kids may end in this frame only.
I do not understand what is POV!!! but For. ie
I feel it will give more space to enhance the feelings.

This one is just wonderful...full of life...minimalistic yet sophisticated...congrats.

You are giving us a simple concept of the beauty of Vietnam, and of basic photography.
roamermark (1592) 2006-10-29 0:41
Absolutely brilliant perspective built in here....it looks like they are dropping off a cliff. Fascinating stuff
andreng (265) 2006-10-29 1:14
I could not be more envy of you for managing to capture this shot. There's action, speed, happiness, freedom all in one shot. The kites looks like if they were bigger it could take the kids airborne. A spontaneous capture of a moment that is gone in a few seconds. This picture could also fit in into the theme "Escape" easily for the competition. I wish you the best and looking forward to the final results. Cheers Andre

Hello Hoang. This photo of yours is nothing short of incredible. I love the movement and the details of the two on their descent. Gorgous and amazing indeed. Thanks for sharing!
gramma (3519) 2006-10-29 4:30
Very nice picture of these two children with their kite. The sight in diving gives the impression which they descend a vertical dune. Well considering !
Yuanclarkson (38) 2006-10-29 8:41
Do you need a person to carry your equipments? I don't intend to be as a good photographer as you to shot this type of photos, but just to follow you to the beautiful places.

The best words have been used and it is hard for me to find some proper terms to praise.
I simply told myself, "a star is born".
I hope you understand what I meant.
Sue77584 (0) 2006-10-30 6:05
My favorite picture!
I wish to have the high resolution file to make an enlargement for my livingroom...
ozpaul (288) 2006-11-01 0:51
Very nice image "LyLong". Lots of contrasting energy of the kite flyers with the sand and I like the variations in the sand textures also. Maybe I would have cropped a little differently, I'm not sure....Best wishes Paul
I have looked at this again and I think that removing a little from the bottom and possibly also a very small amount from the right creates more drama in the photo - as if the figures are about to jump off the picture. Hope you don't mind my comments. I think it is a wonderful image. Paul.

Hi Hoang Long,
What an excellent shot! The POV is superb. The sharpness is remarkable, allowing to perceive any little trace in the sand. The light is very effective…. and the children running with their kites, leaving their footprint in the sand has been perfectly captured... Another impressive photo!

This is a bright, loving, powerful composition
It gives me the feeling that 'it is keep happening''... It was an amazing moment for capturing.
The sense of calmness i get from the silky sand and the earth colors is interrupted by the colorful, playful figures. Great.
I would like it also, with a white frame!

Hi Hoang !
What a beautiful photography. Child plays... very aerial moment, as the sand gives to it warmth and softness. Lovely light, good POV and enlightened composition.
Great thank you for posting this here on TE.

"Leaving Traces" this I think. A very nice and good quality work. congratulations.
blueaquan (227) 2010-04-28 23:17
Although you've already scored a good 100 points on this fantastic shot, I couldn't go on without adding to all those people who've loved your picture.
Indeed one hell of a POV you've got there, the picture is so full of Colours and Happiness.
It also gives ignorant people like me an insight into Vietnam's landscape too, for all this while Vietnam to me meant Tropical rainforests and lush green Paddy fields. Sand dunes were never related to Vietnam.
Thanks for that too...
annjackman (20931) 2010-11-02 3:30
I have added this to my favourites. The untrodden sand in front of the runners, then the footprints behind and the ripples at the top give a layered effect which are essential components of a this picture giving an additional feeling of movement already portrayed so well by the runners and the sand kicked up behind. The kites give that colour splash to an otherwise monochromatic picture making it just perfect!
haydn (274) 2010-11-21 15:03

Great shot, nice light and dune texture is reflected fantastically. Even composition - good 1/3. Just, may be, a little bit too straight?
kennyblack (4207) 2011-09-22 10:26
