Photographer’s Note
Another one image turned in sepia tones.
The reason is the very low quality of the colours after the scan procession.
Image took at Doc Let Beach, in the Central Vietnam, 40 kms north of Nha Trang.
A wonderful beach long miles and miles, totally empty of people.
The young boy was the only one other swimmer, apart us!

Just like yesterdays shot, I'm in love with the style of the photograph and the old feel.
I particularly like this one due to the small size in the photo..it really shows how large the beach is.

Good shot, and given the time it was taken, I won't critisize the technical side. I actually think sepia works great here - old, deserted beach, of which only the local kids know. Where are places like that any more...

Hi Paolo, this is a great series you've started from your archives. Maybe not perfect tech, but really interesting to see these places not that long ago.
I'd be interested if you added your kit at the time to your equipment profile.

yes, this is a very creative approach to the "styling" the photos in a specific way, paolo;
very good work, and very interesting - the quality of this old stuff is so good!
best wishes, j.

Ciao Paolo,
I have to remember this original idea, when doing the PP to my bad scanned ones. The paradise isn't so appealling, but the resulted atmosphere is wonderful. It really seems like an oldie...Very well done!

Sometimes the scan quality can be so bad the photo turns out so well. Just like yesterday, this shot works very much thanks to the quality, or lack thereof, of the scan. The poor resolution creates an alien world where this boy lives. This has a VERY vintage feel. I wonder if pure b/w wouldnt have maybe been EVEN better.

Hi Paolo,
interesting particular atmosthere with this sepia tone, good focus on children, maybe for the composition, the children more on the left side, maybe ...

Hi Paolo,
The effect gives it a long time ago feel that suits it real fine. A terriffic 'unsharp mask solution'.
Thanks and regards, Gerrit

Paolon bonjour - encore une grande réussite - c'est super ces tonalités que tu produis au scan - tout celà combiné avec le côté un peu ancien de l'image donne un rendu merveilleux -
Merci et bonne journée

It has the same feel as yesterday's post. It's an unusual shade of sepia you use to give a different look.

Interesting postwork in this one Paolo. Even from 1998 it seems in this setting like something right out of the 70'ies. Very effectful with the lone boy. Good work.

Hi Paolo,
Again a very nice Sepia image, although i have to admite that the previous did more to me. The kid here steals the show, which is excellent, but i have some difficulties with the sky. The clouds are way to soft, or was that on purpose?
I can image that a bad scan needs a lot of PP, so it could be that i am wrong...forgive me my ignorence ;-)
Nevertheless, strong composition with right balance between for and background including the boy.
Have a nice weekend..!!!

hi Paolo
this photograph vibrates truly. there is a palpable tension I like much to see the little boy alone, almost a dramatic mood.

Hi Paolo,
Again, the sepia image works well, as there is the illusion of an old fashioned postcard. The shadow effects are nicely exposed, and the expression of the boy's face is well seen. A timeless and empathetic scene. Well captured.

Ciao Paolo ancora,
The sephia works wonderful here also. The charm of loneliness on a forgotten looking, yet wonderful beach is the perfect feeling. Since i am in the mood for seeking sun, i may have preferred to see it in full color. However this image supports my winter mood.
Complimenti,
Deniz
