To capture a better shot of the bridge, I very much wanted to jump down to the sloping muddy banks of this river. I was stopped by my "more-sensible" wife and had to contend with taking a shot from the side cement pavement (bottom right of picture) through the following means:

1) mount camera on top of tripod.
2) extend tripod as long (tall) as possible.
3) set focus and start countdown timer of camera
4) 10 ...9 ...
5) quickly clamp one end of tripod's legs under armpits
6) ...8 ...7...
7) quickly tip tripod horizontally like a fishing rod
8) ...6....5
9) hover the other end of tripod (with camera attached) above center of river
10) 4... 3...
11) hold breath, stay still and ignore curious on-lookers.
12) 2... 1...
13) camera *clicks*

Thanks to my steady armpits, shot turns out unblurred.

Oh,... Here's a history of the bridge:

This Japanese styled bridge in Hoi An is styled "the upper part of a house and the lower part of a bridge". It spans 18 metres long and three metres wide and is built over a small canal leaning to the Hoai River.

In ancient times, Japanese believed that the world rested on the back of an dragon called 'Cu' which had its head beneath Japan. Whenever the dragon moved its tail Japan has an earthquake. In order to eradicate the disasters, the Japanese built the Pagoda Bridge where its pillars represent an invisible sword that drives through the back of the Cu - thereby stopping earthquakes from occuring.

Hi Guan,
Original portrait of Hoian bridge, i like so much your composition, many details are well taken in this shot, a little damage for the sky.
You have really a Hoian spirit through your camera.
May be you lived in Hoian in the previous life, who know ?
