[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While walking through one of the smaller villages along the river near Hué, I got drawn to a garbage belt.
When I moved closer I noticed that this little boy was sorting through the rubbish. I stood back for a while, feeling very sensitive about the situation, wondering what the best thing to do would be.
And just at that point the boy had sensed my presence, turned around and looked me in the face with this tender, questioning, surprised, fragile and sad look.
My camera was ready in my hand so I took this shot impulsively.
Afterwards I walked towards him and he walked slowly towards me. His eyes were hopeful, but I was carrying very little on me at the time. I hope I managed to make him a little happy, but all I could feel was sadness. He surely will stay with me, that little boy, sorting garbage.

I felt this image needed a B/W approach and tried a WS, but I'm not very pleased. If you would like to try to make a good one, I would be grateful!

Dag Sabine,

Merci, Al.

A very powerful image Sabine. I saw teh expression first and then read your comments to confirm it. What a wonderful capture of how life really is for the poor in this world. "He who has pity on the poor gives to the Lord, and the Lord will give him his reward" Proverbs 19;17!

Hi Sabine. yes, a sad and touching image... more so because it is a reality for so many.

the color version is better... color is life and this photo is about life.

Salut Sabine,

Sabine, this sad photo reminds us the huge gap between the west and some third world countries; and how many kids live in poverty. The photo and your comment are powerful together. Excellent capture of that moment.

Hi Sabine,

Good captured! full with emotion, very touching! but the color doesnt looks very real. If i had that good skill i would like to help you:)

anyhow, well done!

Bonjour Sabine
Amicalement
Bertrand
