Mama Han's Floating Kitchen Photo

Photographer’s Note

That image was took on the back side of the Mama Han boat, where 3 girls cooked the food for the 40/50 people on board. There were salads, vegetables, fruits, grilled fish, rice, many rice, grilled meat and beers....too much beers.
Here there is the story of the Mama Han's Boat Trip.

you have an eye for this, my friend, definitely - excellent composition presenting in a wide angle the kitchen and the staff preparing the food; so much colourful, vivid shot; nice work, really;

it a nice picture, just to bad for the stong light coming from outside. The the position of the conic hats is great, we can also notice a lovely smile and look from the 2 women.

Hello Paolo,

the hats make this special..I think they give it that Vietnamese flavor because the scene could be pretty much any country. The compo is well balanced, no negative space and its all filld out nicely with relevant details. Yet again a successful scan Paolo.

A simple daily scene but that carries for us an exotic dimension, mostly thanks to their conic hats. I like too the blue of their uniform, and interesting to note they had masks even before SRAS and all the problems that affect Asia. It's pity the background was overexposed.

Good daily life image; not only the hats but the handkerchief masks are so typical. I think it is to avoid the sun; is that correct.

Great view from the kitchen - get the feeling that these women are having a good time. The Vietnamese hats are really photogenic.

Fantastic!! A beautiful 'S' shaped composition - my favourite photo-geometry - I just love that sinuous shape that the eye is encouraged to travel around your image - perfect Paulo - just purrrfect! A great subject too - I couldn't agree less with Richard here - I just think he hasn't found the secret of the line through this - OK there may be some issues with light but all is forgiven in my book and there is nothing at all not fixable 0- great observation Paulo.

I agree with HCB when he says "my camera is my sketchbook". We are not always painting masterpieces.

Hmmm, Paolo. looks good, it's that I am just eating some chips, otherwise I would get hungry, it all looks so fresh. I do not spend that much time on TE, but I always try to take a look, and enjoy your pictures very much. Where have you NOT been, Paolo? ;-)

Paolo, what a DELICIOUS picture! I am getting seriously hungry just by looking at it... what draws me to your shot is the composition though.. those lovely Vietnamese hats, the marvellously rich colours, these great cooks... how I wish I had been there! The best table laid!
