Okay, I know it's just a motorcycle but I'm going to post some of my photos of NW. Vietnam and some of them wouldn't be possible without this bike so I need to give credit where credit is due.
It's a Russian made, tough workhorse with two strokes, 125cc. The name is Minsk. This is the most popular trail bike in Vietnam. I really like this bike. Although the engine is a bit too small compare to what I prefer, but in Vietnam you can't find a bigger engine to buy or rent because the police bikes are 250cc and they want to make sure they can catch you :)
This bike along with NW Vietnam roads, especially Route 6A, pushed my limits mentally and also my riding skills. I traveled very long hours almost everyday for ten days and all Mr Minsk wanted was gasoline (mixed with 5% oil). He never broke done or complained... Next I'll post the moments we shared.
The location here is actually in the state of "Hoa Binh" not "Ha Tay" but it's not listed under the Vietnam states so I picked the closest state to this location.

Nice POV and framing, Skye. You're very brave to take on driving in Vietnam, especially on a motorbike, with those killer trucks and buses so poorly driven! Glad you're still here to tell us about it. I look forward to seeing more from this trip. Regards, Ken.

Coool! Very good composition! Your moto is just waiting for
its globe trotter! I like your idea to do such a composition.
It really invites to move! Beautiful sky and perspective too.
And funny note with the 250 cc of cops :-) Well done.

I like your note and also must tell you that you've made a really nice portait to your friend. But in TE is not allowed to post photos of friends... HAHAHAHA. Just kidding. I like this dramatic POV and the composition with the road that goes to forever is just great. TFS

your note sums up the bond we have with different kinds of transport when we're travelling.
unfortunately i've only ever travelled by local transport. but every traveller i've ever met who's got their own transport; be it a vw, motorbike, tandem or camel(!) has an amazing bond with their vehicle. so much so that their eyes glaze over when they talk about 'zorba' (a purple enfield) or their tandem, like it was a first born child.
please, don't think that i'm being cynical or facetious...i think it's beautiful.
i'd love to travel by bike, have you read 'zen and the art...', what he says about travelling without frames is amazing. i'll always try to scramble onto the roof of the bus for this reason.
i bet there were tears when you and mr minsk parted...
