Dusk at Cat Ba Island Photo

Photographer’s Note

The locals in the bay of Cat Ba island... many live on these boats as Cat Ba is a reasonably small and expensive island catering to tourists. I found the Karst peaks here to be very similar to those found in Yangshou, China.

Hi, it's been a while :)
You must have read my mind.. I was just thinking about this place. In 48 hours I am on a plane bound for Hanoi, and a few days after that perhaps somewhere near here.....
I like this Conrad, it's nice to see this sunset in B&W as a change from the postcard-like colour shots that are so familiar... it achieves a strong dark silhouette affect, perfect for emphasising the boats (rather than the sunset).

Absolutely gorgeous photo, I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more comments in the past year!! The silvery water and sky, interrupted by so many sleeping boats and different shades/layers of peaks, produces a magical mood. Thanks for sharing!!
