Photographer’s Note
Small shops like this are all through Saigon (and many other Asian cities). For very little money, you can get a haircut or a shave. Interestingly, in Viet Nam, it also seemed very common to have the wax cleaned from your ears, that one was new to me.
ISO 200, focal length 70mm, handheld, normal post processing, uncropped.

very nice photo Dareen, the moment is nice, colors are pleasant and the picture well composed, the only smalll flaw is the guy on the right - his cropped head bothers me a bit, but it is a nice work still

a classic Darren! the overall scene is pleasant to look at. i wonder whether a bigger distance allowing you to capture the whole scene with his legs and feet would not be even nicer? just a thought...

Nice image Darren, I like it.. The colors are great but I thought there was something strange about this image, i found out what it was.. It's a woman doing the job.. Usually it's always a man.. Very nice catch..

Very relaxing and pleasent, to look at it.
Tried to found out why.
- background in relaxing colour, just a few elements
- the vivid colours form a kind of circle
- her body, neck, head forms the same curve as that something(lamp?) on the right part
- her hand has the same inclination as his body
The guy on the left - I almost didn't observe him.
Very well seen and composed, Darren

This is the perfect scene to get a good shot, but perfect scenes don't always make great images, it needs something else... will you please drop that long lens and walk closer to your subject!
For me and to speak frankly, you've screwed it up because it needed some inside action like all market or activity scenes and hence a (much) shorter lens that would also give some angle to your PoV. Sorry this is too flat and descriptive it looks like you wanted to design the flyer of that barber stall, not like having us getting into the experience. This is very stiff and the stiffness is even enhanced with te perpendicular composition tucked in a corner of the frame.
1/50 seconds with your telezoom, don't tell me you've set up your tripod in the midst of the shop Darren ;)... btw watch out your sharpening...

This picutre reminds me of the Philippines! They do clean your ears in some barbershops in the Philippines but just a few. The difference is in the Philippines they cover your body with white cotton sheet and most of the barbrs are male. This photograph helps me compare daily life in different countries.

I believe the colors are too saturated in this picture. Otherwise, nice and interesting scene.

Darren, like I told some other TE'rs, I've missed alot of browsing while on the road. You've added some nice stuff lately. You're style and content is far ranging. I like this one. Most people have a little trouble in Vietnam: I loved it! Can't wait to go up north soon...
