Photographer’s Note
The Perfume River runs through the ancient Vietnamese capital of Hue, separating the older part of the city where the Imperial City is located from the newer part, where most of the hotels are located. This shot was taken from the balcony of my hotel room. The larger boats are tourist boats that run tours up and down the river to see the ancient royal tombs that are a few miles out of town. The entire river is lined with these boats -- probably several hundred of them at least. Local people, however, still use more traditional ways of getting up and down the river.

Good PoV and very evocative subject, catching the mood of the place. Something bothers me a bit about the corp. I think I'd have preferred all of the boat, or a tighter crop, clipping the stern like that looks a bit like a mistake.

Hello Mimi,
I really like the POV...the big boats have nice colours and the small boat looks somewhat cute compared to them! :-) Good job!

Very nice daily life shot of Vietnam, Mimi. I like your composition with the boat in digonal in the foreground and the pirogue in the background. Well seen!

Another awesome view. Great color. THe diagonal placement of the three boats, with the distant one receding out of the frame, gives great depth to the photo. Tranquility; timeless.
