Lang Co, 1989

I promised Patty that I will post photo to show her how things have changed from time to time in my village Lang Co. I took this backlight photo with a borrowed camera in summer 1989, during preparation for my departure to USA. At that time, the communication in and out of Vietnam still be under difficulty, until the “open-door” policy afterward. In this picture, you can see the last steel piers of the first bridge built by the French during their dominance over Indochine. Some 200 meters farther is the second concrete bridge built by the American during their expansion of National Highway One in 1965. Both of these bridges (shown here and in Patty's picture too) have been demolished now.

Beautiful into the light landscape, with a lot of interesting river activity detail. Nice find from your archives.

well done
Cheers
