Mekong : Song Cuu Long Photo

Photographer’s Note

The numerous branches of the river explain the Vietnamese name for Mekong: Song Cuu Long - River of nine Dragons. Fowing 4500 km through China, between Myanmar and Laos, through Laos, along the Laos-Thailand border, through Cambodia and Vietnam on its way to the South China Sea. Cai Rang Floating Market. I waked up very early in the morning, just 6 km from Can Tho, is the biggest floating market. If you want to see it in its full activity you have to be there before 7 a.m. I think it's the place where I made more shots during my trip.
I loved this girl playing with the machine, with the help of the balances, and on board of the boat where she lives with her family. The boat was full of gengibre, bananas, papayas. She was out of the world, market, noise, business .... Placid moment.

Ola Roser,

The Mekong Delta is dear to my heart and I have seen your previous Can Tho (etc.) shots too, but this one I like most. The position of the girl on the balance is both graceful and playful, making this picture more original and making it stand out among the many, many floating market shots I've seen. Nice one!

Desde la miniatura me parecía que la niña estaba en el aire. Un retrato encantador que demuestra una vez mas la capacidad y imaginación infinita de los niños para descubrir juegos. El color del vestido ayuda a destacar la niña del fondo oscuro.

A nice moment - her pink dress, thoughtful expression and childlike posture are interesting features of the photo. I would perhaps have cropped a centimetre or so off the bottom (the boat). Great shot anyway!

Ola - Sabaidee Roser,
Gingers, Bananas, a little girl in pink and pokka dots on a scale. Very interesting combination, make a very nice image. The essence of life on the Mekong is very nicely represented though we don't even see the river, some may not even know this is on top of a boat floating on the Mekong. I like it, daily life as it is. Thank you. Buena Noche.
