Hi Marcus,
I am absolutely fascinated by the various patterns you find in windblown or surf-sculpted sand. They provide great graphic possibilities. Here though, I think that this view is wonting for some sort of subject or visual "stopping off point". Without it the image recedes quickly into a repetitive pattern and the viewer can lose interest. I think you made a better image in "White Sand Dunes" composing it so the peak of the dune becomes a focal point. That said I think the saturation in both could be boosted a bit but certainly not to the level of the workshop. That was quite overdone in my opinion and I prefer your original. A better way to enhance color would be to swap out the UV filter for a circular polarizer. It would also accentuate the shadows and add to the contrast.
