The food in Vietnam is a wonderful mix of SE Asian, Chinese and French flavours. Punctuated by wonder mini baguette sandwiches (Ban Mi), with it's crusty bread, mixed with pork and coriander, and chilli, it works with the superb strong, sweet Vietnamese coffee.
Here is a shot from the markets in Dalat, a small city with a cool highland climate and French feel.
Some the best food is found in the streets.

There you are again! And back with a characteristic monochrome street shot. I have to say that it's come to TE in a rather "soft" manner (or is that camera shake? 1/20sec suggests that's the problem) But somehow, with this subject matter and in this environment, technical accuracy isn't so important. You've certainly captured the feel of the place. I might have tripped the shutter a couple of seconds earlier to get the figure in the foreground better filling the void in the middle, but this is street grab-photography we're talking about here!

I quite agree with you that the best and most authentic food can be found on the streets and on the markets, rather than in restaurants. Your description of the spicy baguette is quite mouth watering. The photo is technically far from perfect, still it manages to catch the essence and feel of the place nicely.
have a great day

howdy juzz? :)
well, i get very well will's reaction, so you do, but i am neither a purist nor a teacher like will, so i'd easily be captured by the "softness", which imho adds a timeless and naive feel to it, just like in many "ancient" photos. i would however protest against the plastics and jeans in the bg, if i needed to be picky. you know, i need not ;)
