A post office does not normally top the itinerary of most tourists. However, this one is worth a look, especially as it is in an area with plenty of other things to see.
Designed by Gustav Eiffel and built by the French as an apparent statement of their dominance over the territory, it resembles a grand railway station. Two huge maps show Saigon in 1892 and the telegraphic lines in Vietnam and Cambodia in 1936. Plenty of wooden writing tables provide a calming place to compose your postcards.
