Very successful compo, Brian.
When I was here the last time on March 26, 1972, they didn't build this statue yet. So I never had chance to be there, but friends told me its arm has been broken once. After repair, they blocked people from getting out of the head, due to danger. I am glad that you were safe after the shot.
If you ever return here, don't try again!

Very good, Brian!
STrange, but interesting angle.
Your highlights are very well managed.
Did you whisper into Jesus ears?
:-D

A fantastic picture - really unusual and interesting. I was in Lisbon recently and they also have a massive Jesus statue that overlooks the city (I don't know if you can go inside that one - in any case I didn't have time). Your composition is just perfect. Well done!

Matt

Unusual perspective and great note, I like the more conventional frontal view too.

This works very well - following the direction of the statue's gaze really draws us into the frame.
There's not much else, just the scrappy bit of coast and the sea, but I rather like the emptiness of it all.
Good stuff Brian.
Cheers,
Ben

Good idea Brian and a creative angle that sure presents this bug statue in the most interesting way. Good work.

My parents lived in VungTau from late 60's to late 80's but I only came home to visit them during summer holidays - I left VN late 1980 and have not had any chance to see this statue even knowing it has been there.
Probably one day I will come back to my "home town" and visit this statue.
