In the Vung Tau Cao Dai temple.
These two worshippers were chatting and laughing while they waited: I suppose like other places of formal worship the social aspect is sometimes as important as the contact with the divine.
Taken from the rear balcony, hanging over as much as I dared! |

I looked at this one because it had no comments - it's always a shame when a posting gets ignored. Even when a shot hasn't worked it's good to know why. It seems to me that most people would rather ignore an image than make negative comments.
Your idea was good here Brian - shooting directly from above can often yield interesting results. If you had dared to hang over the edge a bit further you could have avoided chopping the woman's head in half and the shot would have worked a lot better. The light is quite soft and flat, and I think a boost to the contrast would also improve it. Setting some negative exposure compensation at the time of shooting would also have depened the colours and reduced the burn-out on their clothing.
Cheers,
Ben
ehhhh, this one is almost a really great shot Brian. I don't know the circumstances but I think you had a great oppurtunity here, I think maybe if you leaned just a little bit more and caught the full body of the worshipper on the left, in would have been really good. The lines and patterns on teh floor creat an excellent background for your POV here. I think as it is, the cut off worshipper is just cut off a little bit too much. Still, I like it. Worth a greeny just for the effort and the attempt. It could be alot better though.
