A typhoon was blowing when I took this one from the train window. I was intrigued by what looked like a little fishing shelter by the river. We were travelling from Hoi An to Nha Trang (413K) in the South Central Coastal region of Vietnam.
For those thinking of travelling by train in Vietnam I advise purchasing a seat in the best available carriage which won't get you much! The trains are not clean and expect cockroaches and mice to accompany you. However, the views are wonderful when a typhoon is not blowing with exceptional views of the rural areas and the coastline.

Very nice capture from Vietnam, giving the atmosphere perfectly.
TFS and best regards from rainy and cold İstanbul.

l'effetto è molto originale e piacevole, il vetro ha funzionato da perfetto filtro flou e in più ci sono le gocce di pioggia a dare un'atmosfera tipica.

An excellent capture from a moving train, all the more so given the terrible weather. Well composed and benefiting from agreeable soft light and colours. I like the speckled discs of brighter light, presumably due to the raindrops.

A very interesting note you have written about train travel in Vietnam - it reminds me again about how much I loathe cockroaches! I remember trying to beat one to death with my shoe in Cyprus some years ago: I thought I had killed it but the damn thing sprang into life and ran up my arm. Yuk. Perhaps some long trousers and a pair of bicycle clips might be useful for travelling on one of these trains!
This is a delightful photograph and it's also amazingly sharp considering that it was taken at 1/60 second from a moving train. And the rain spattering on the window actually adds to the mood of the picture rather than detracting from it in my opinion.
I love that little multicoloured hut which just looks like a simple frame made of cane with different pieces of cloth laid over it. It's perfectly placed in the picture and is complemented nicely by the skinny bits of stick which appear to make up a primitve sort of jetty.
Lovely light and colours, perfect exposure and lovely presentation.

Hello Ann - One day I hope to do a trip on the Reunification Train and I take note on the suggestion regarding booking the best available carriage. Cockroaches are something I don't like but live with daily in Namibia during the wet season, mice I can cope with but rats are a definite no-no!
This is very atmospheric, the wet weather has given the shot an extra boost of reality and one gets a vivid idea of the hardships some people live with on a day-to-day basis. Fascinating!

I did an 11 hour trip over heavily corrugated roads in a cramped and packed minibus from Hoi An to Nha Trang. I've also seen these fish traps in Thailand. Good framing and sharpness considering the movement of the tain and the uncooperative weather. A good daily life shot with nice use of a shallow dof. Tfs!

This is a rather original photo. The dim light and wet window isolate the colourful foreground from the surroundings and make dimensions and distances hard to grasp. The view has been reduced to a composition of colours and shapes, not quite abstract, but almost. I like the effect very much and I appreciate your courage of posting such an unconventional photo.

trains are the nicest way to travel in my opinion. Unfortunately everything was fully booked when i was here(New Year)So i had to travel by plane Saigon-Hoi An_Hanoi:( I like this little glimpse, it gives us an idea how the situation looks like for fishermen in Viet Nam. Excellent composition and an interesting note.(i don´t like cockroaches either)
ps. ABBA was an excellent band, but their song "Happy New Year" was played continuously for hours in every restaurant and bar in Hoi An. I was fed up with that song for years after that:)

An interesting picture and note. I guess this is a bit different from taking a picture from a TGV at full speed, but you have captured a very fine scene here with interesting details and colours. But the window washer has not been working for a long time, it seems.

wow! This is a class shot. A nice atmosphere can be seen here. Like those foggy background and the little tent in it. Excellent and smooth background bokeh. Great colour tone. A superb photograph. Tfs.

That's an interesting point of view.I like the chinese nest we can see on your shot (we can also see this kind of nest at Cochin in India) .
The drops on the train window give an strange atmosphere.
The fishing shelter gives a welcome little touch of colours to the picture.
kasianowak (6839) 2014-03-15 5:35
This is probably the best image taken from a train I have ever seen. The drops of rain (or at least I think these are drops of rain) create an artistic blur and atmospheric bokeh. You genuinly managed to depict the weather conditons during you journey and realities of everyday life of whoever dwells in this little shelter.

Intéressante note et image , un moment particulier que vous mettez bien en image depuis le train, les couleurs de la petite tente avec la brume donne une atmosphère particulière

Interesting tent frontage with fishing poles and obscure through the rain drops.
Thanks for sharing,

ti reputo tra i migliori fotografi che operano in TE e anche questa foto conferma il mio giudizio per la particolare abilità che hai nel trasmettere non solo belle vedute ma anche le emozioni di un particolare momento.
A mio parere sei straordinariamente brava.
Ciao e buona serata

Very nice work. I like the rain on the train window acting almost like a soft diffuser filter. And the shack seems to anticipate the architecture of the church in your next posting, while the fishing arrangements remind me of the "trebucci" of the Italian Adriatic coast.

An interesting scene you have photographed! It looks absolutely unique and original at your presentation. Very well seen and executed. TFS!

You saw the mice also:)? I remember them but it was a nice trip and during the day we can enjoy the landscape.
Thyphoons are not nice at all but I like your photo, the composition and the atmosphere you captured.
