It rained for a lot of our time in Hoi An and some of it was extremely heavy.
A huge down pour came down whilst we looking through an old restored shop house, Tan Ky House. This style of building has the shop area at the front followed by a courtyard and then usually, living quarters. The rooms are open to the courtyard. Upstairs has more living (and/or a storage area) with a walk way linking the front and rear areas. Hoi An has many buildings like this one with the town centre being a World Heritage listed site.
The rain is partly straight rain and partly water running off the roof above.
Photo taken on ISO 3200 at 1/2 sec to capture the rain in the courtyard, braced against a post.

Initially I thought you had captured the raindrops as they fell. Then I noticed the lines are not all parallel and so I think you could be looking through a clear curtain? Whatever the colours are soft and the composition quite unusual. Thanks for sharing and have a nice weekend, Marlene

Hello Ian - I've tried myself to capture the mood of a SE Asian downpour without success. You have done a good job here and I like the fact that we see the curtain of water as it falls off what I assume is an overhanging roof. Looks like an interesting shop to browse in, did you buy anything? Nice astmospheric shot. Best regards Rosemary
